I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taoranxuan 陶然轩, a renowned dim sum restaurant located on Shamian Island in Guangzhou, and it truly exceeded all expectations. This hidden gem comes highly recommended by Michelin, and for good reason.

The dim sum selection at Taoranxuan is nothing short of exceptional. Each delicate dish was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients. From the steamed dumplings to the crispy spring rolls, every bite was bursting with flavor and expertly seasoned.

Enjoyed the food immensely, a little pricey but worth it. Ambiance and tea were also outstanding. Warning: Dim sum orders come with 6 pieces  - a delicious misunderstanding in translation led to a bit more food than we wanted.

Kungfu style fancy dimsum first floor, ordinary style on the 6th floor. No dimsum pushcarts, must order everything and they will bring it to you. Menu in English and Chinese. All wait staff spoke Mandarin well.

The food was very good. Top marks for shrimp dumplings ( xia jiao ), congee and chicken feet.  Service was the only negative, they forgot to put in half our order and were generally inattentive.

Open free Wifi, bathrooms pretty clean but had tissue but no toilet bowl, just the hole in the floor. Western prices, 4 adults came out to be about 400rmb
