Review of St. Regis Chengdu

Unfortunately, this has been one of the most disappointing stays I’ve had at a St. Regis property. While the staff is eager to assist, their service is slow and inefficient, particularly during check-in and when handling requests. The lack of English proficiency is understandable given the limited international clientele, but it does add to the challenges.

The hotel itself is grand but outdated. Maintenance is minimal and somewhat superficial, while the furnishings and amenities are in dire need of a complete overhaul. The rooms are generously sized and come with high-end features, but everything feels tired and past its prime.

The only saving grace is the excellent value for money—though you should adjust your expectations accordingly—and the good location, not far from Chengdu’s commercial center.

I wouldn’t recommend it unless budget and location are your top priorities.

Titanium loyalty member here. I canceled my booking on learning that the hotel does not follow standard St. Regis policy for upgrades. The earlier happy hour benefit has also been pulled. A warning to other Marriott loyalty members who may be considering this hotel due to their benefits.

Rooms are spacious with double desk, sofa and comfortable bed. The bathroom has a bathtub and a spacious shower as well. The breakfast has all you need and in a relaxing atmosphere.
Check-in was fast and staff is friendly.
The hotel is located in walking distance to shopping area and restaurants.

Very disappointed definitely not to the St Regis standards it should be.
Poor maintenance of the room. Cabinet doors broken; temperature of hot water becomes cold after late night; lamps flickering indicating bad electrical contacts which has risk of fire!
Breakfast is 3-star hotel level. Average taste, limited choices and bad service. 5 days in a row the waitress forgot my coffee orders, I doubt it was a coincidence.
Lunch at the Social restaurant was a disaster. The lunch buffet comes with one A La Carte but the choice limited and the taste was very poor. The buffet part was basically left over from the breakfast. That was a joke!
Also worst AMEX program offer ever: the 100$ credit basically cannot do anything or spend anywhere. Only possible in that disastrous Social restaurant. Extremely strict limitations on using it.
In summary, this one really destroys my impression on St Regis.

It is December in China and the room heater is on whenever we turned on the air-conditioning unit and with the temperature set at 18°C, the room was too warm for us to sleep. So we had to off the aircon and it was so stuffy in the room..

We complained to the butler and she came to open the window for us but then the noise pollution from the road is unbearable.

Unless and until St Regis solve this problem, I don't recommend anyone to stay here.
