Kind of a must try when visiting Tokyo night life. Many small bars offering drinks and conversations. Some cover charge or are members only but others are very friendly around 1000 yen per drink. Ace's was my favorite for good music and friendly bar tender Akemi who spoke English well and was nice talking to.

What a completely different experience for nightlife. A must go if you are someone who likes trying different things and putting yourself in different situations.

These tiny little alleyways have bars lined on each side, most of which seat only 2-6 people. A few of them have a tad more room, for maybe 12 people. Some of them seem to hate foreigners, while others promote the English speaking aspect.

We visited two different spots and each time, you're right up against another person where you are almost forced to interact with them. There is a single bartender, and a limited selection of drinks in each place.

Definitely not something for someone who doesn't want to interact with humans.

Leave your bags at home! Because these Golden Gai bars are small and tight. Every bar has great service and you meet very nice people from all over the world. Speaking basic Japanese here will go along way.

Shinjuku Golden-Gai is composed of a network of six narrow alleys, connected by even narrower passageways which are about wide enough for a single person to pass through. Over 300 tiny shanty-style bars, clubs and eateries are squeezed into this area. The vibe you can breath here is really charming, feeling the real Japanese atmosphere and coming back to the old time of which this district was built. Despite I suggest to visit one of these bars to get a beer or other drinks, I strongly recommend to avoid tourist scams as many activities charge unreasonable amount of money in addition to drink cost. Moreover, please make sure to have some cash with you as 90% of places here do not accept any electronic payment.

it was a very interesting experience. i do not believe you can find anything like it in Tokyo!

however a lot of pubs have a fee of around 500¥ for only sitting down. the drinks are not that cheap also.

however the pub we did go inside was very nice and i lovedd the matcha g&t!
the pubs are quite cramped but i thinks that’s the charm of Golden-Gai :)

Wagyu Feast + Night View of Two Towers (two towers facing each other from afar), only at KINTAN Ebisu on the 38th floor. An additional 3000 yen per table for the night view, but the scenery is totally worth it.

I have eaten better Wagyu before, so the food is only 3/5. If I close my eyes, I could not tell it’s regular New York steak or wagyu. But the view adds a lot of credits to it.

This place has a beautiful view and a very nice, tasters menu.

Gizzard and mushrooms, and wagyu beef were the starters, followed by beef tongue stew and a small paté hamburger, which was interesting, and quite tasty as well  Each dish was delicious, though the steak served as a main course could have been better quality.

The meal concluded with a mousse pastry, topped with fresh fruit and raspberry sauce.

This place in on the 38th floor, and provides a fantastic view of Tokyo through large glass windows. Even the elevator ride up offered a breathtaking view of the city.

We visited this place with a close friend of ours and that, was the best part of the evening.

I wasn’t expecting this restaurant to be on the 38th floor with an amazing food and incredible food. As other commenters said, the beef tongue was superb. I ordered the gorgeous lunch and was so not disappointed. Everything was absolutely delicious! I would love to bring some foreign tourist friends here when people can once again travel after Covid. Thank you for the friendly service and the really good canned special coffee. The special mask case was also a very nice touch!

The pancakes were super good, very fluffy, tasty, fresh, a delicious brunch! Drinks were also very good. Staff was extremely friendly and spoke English. We made a reservation online before so didn’t have to queue up for it, but there was quite a long queue for people without a reservation when we arrived there - so definitely recommend to book in advance.
A feedback for the management of the restaurant: you should not be afraid of charging for waste of food! Some tourists behaviour are just not acceptable.. people ordering multiple flavours of pancakes just to have a few bites and walking away. In the limited time we were sitting there, my boyfriend and I were in shock with the behaviour of the people around and how much food was thrown away..

We wanted to try fluffy pancakes for the first time and found this place in the area. We went around noon and there was a bit of a wait. We each ordered an entree and the regular fluffy pancakes to share for dessert. Plus the melon float and tropical float. It was worth the hype! I had read before that fluffy pancakes overall can taste too eggy if not done right so I was hoping this would be worth it. And it definitely was!! The fluffy ones tasted great and fluffy texture compared to the regular pancakes with my entree. Both kind were great but the fluffy ones met my expectations of a fluffy pancake :)

Got the full breakfast meal and it one of the most balanced, meticulous, and tasty breakfast meals I’ve ever had. So much attention to detail. Everything was cooked perfectly. The fluffy pancakes were overrated in my opinion, the traditional ones were much better. Still worth a try for the novelty. The wait was very long (~1hr dispute being told it would be 30 minutes). Honey lemonade was a bit too sweet for me. Still 10/10 because of how good my main meal was.

Something about the Japanese obsession with chocolate peppermint flavours. I knew I had to order it. The fresh warm fluffy pancake paired with the cold sweet peppermint ice cream is a combination I didn't know I needed in life. Absolutely perfect pairing. Swiped up every single last drop of it. Even the fresh cream is peppermint. The menu has English so nothing to worry about, the staff could speak a little English too. They're helpful and friendly.
