Un très bon moment passé au restaurant Mi Kwabo, le menu dégustation nous a permis de découvrir la cuisine du chef, des plats très savoureux mettant à l’honneur la richesse des produits africains. Un excellent moment. Nous avons réalisé un vrai voyage dans l'univers d'Elis et Vanessa Bond, à travers un menu en 5 plats avec un accompagnement mets et boissons. C'est une cuisine très recherchée que nous propose ici le Chef Bond, c'est fin avec des saveurs fortes. L'ambiance est très agréable. On découvre de nouvelles saveurs et des équilibres très maîtrisés. L'accord mets et boissons sans alcool est parfaitement maîtrisé et apporte un vrai plus au voyage.

A great time. We took a real journey into the world of Elis and Vanessa Bond, through a 5-course menu with accompanying food and drinks. It is a very sophisticated cuisine that Chef Bond offers us here, it is fine with strong flavors. The atmosphere is very pleasant. We discover new flavors and very controlled balances. Le chef Elis Bond est de ceux qui ont compris comment tisser « la nouvelle corde au bout de l’ancienne »
Sa cuisine s’inspire des grands classiques d’Afrique subsaharienne et des Caraïbes pour proposer des créations originales aux saveurs inégalées.

Deux menus au choix pour le dîner : un menu en 5 services et un autre en 8 services. J’ai opté pour celui en 5 services.

Et ce fut un vrai régal pour mes sens!

La vue: chaque assiette est un tableau d’art contemporain. Leur dressage soigné, coloré et parfaitement équilibré est un plaisir à contempler.

L’odorat: c’est certainement l’un des points forts de la cuisine du chef Bond. On peut distinctement sentir chacun des ingrédients des plats. Ils se révèlent tous. L’attention à l’odorat est poussée à son extrême jusqu’à la technique de cuisson. Une mention spéciale à la banane plantain fumée au barbecue.

Le goût : c'est le coeur de toute bonne cuisine . Et sur ce point, la cuisine du chef a tenu toutes ses promesses. Elis Bond a réussi l'exploit de me faire retrouver les goûts de plusieurs plats traditionnels africains (bolo-bolo, mafé, ndolé, chachenga, aloko, etc. ) derrière une présentation de plats qui aurait laissé présager totalement du contraire. Les ingrédients sont harmonieusement millimétrés, l'équilibre entre le croquant et le moelleux parfait. Rien n'est de trop. Rien ne manque.

Côté boisson, Vanessa, la compagne du chef est sommelière. Vous pouvez vous fier à elle pour vous proposer le meilleur accord vin.

En ce qui concerne l'ambiance, je me suis rarement senti aussi bien au restaurant. Le nom du restaurant "Mikwabo" (Bienvenue en langue Fon du Bénin) prend tout son sens. Je me suis senti comme à la maison.

Je ne saurais que vous recommander vivement ce restaurant !

Chef Elis Bond is one of those who understood how to weave “the new rope at the end of the old one”.
His cuisine is inspired by the great classics of sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean to offer original creations with unrivaled flavors.

Two menus to choose from for dinner: a 5-course menu and another in 8 courses. I opted for the 5-course one.

And it was a real treat for my senses!

The view: each plate is a contemporary art painting. Their careful, colorful and perfectly balanced training is a pleasure to contemplate.

Smell: this is certainly one of the strong points of Chef Bond’s cuisine. You can distinctly smell each of the ingredients in the dishes. They all reveal themselves. Attention to smell is pushed to its extreme right down to the cooking technique. A special mention to the plantain smoked on the barbecue.

Taste: it is the heart of all good cooking. And on this point, the chef's cuisine kept all its promises. Elis Bond managed the feat of making me rediscover the tastes of several traditional African dishes (bolo-bolo, mafé, ndolé, chachenga, aloko, etc.) behind a presentation of dishes which would have suggested the complete opposite. The ingredients are harmoniously measured, the balance between crunchy and soft is perfect. Nothing is too much. Nothing is missing.

As for drinks, Vanessa, the chef's companion, is a sommelier. You can trust her to offer you the best wine pairing.

As for the atmosphere, I have rarely felt so good in a restaurant. The name of the restaurant “Mikwabo” (Welcome in the Fon language of Benin) takes on its full meaning. I felt like home.
