This restaurant feels very authentic! It’s a little bit further from the port and the heavy touristic areas so you find a lot more locals going there. The bougatsa’s are delicious, although it’s a taste you have to get acquainted with. The freddo espresso was delicious and all in all thought that this was a great find!

If you want to truly unique bougatsa or just a delicious traditional Greek breakfast item, you must visit Bougatsa Xanion. Made with a different cheese than the rest of Greece and in IMHO much tastier and less creamy. I add sugar, the wife prefers cinnamon. And it goes great with traditional Greek coffee that they also make to perfection! We'll be back for sure.

I wanted to try this place, traditional Crete bougatsa, nice atmosphere, busy, quick service. I enjoyed it, it's definitely tasty, but I wasn't blown away by it. But I'd happily come here again. Cheap price for a filling snack or breakfast.

So I visited this place because a local friend of mine highly suggested it and actually marketed it as the best place to visit when you arrive at the port early in the morning.
A modernized place that feels like it stood the trials of time, offering limited options of "Bougatsa" which in my opinion is absolutely fine.
I love how this place has this traditional cretan Giagia (Grandma) cooking feeling.
By itself i believe that is a selling point.
The ladies that welcomed us when we arrived are super friendly as well.

All in all, yes, this is a place you must visit when you reach the port.

Showed up at 3 pm one day and the lovely Tina told us to return the following day before 2 pm. So glad we did! We tried both the cheese and cream filled bougatsa.
Both were outstanding l, but I preferred the traditional cheese! Tina remembered us and greeted us with such a warm smile! Service was quick and great. It’s a must to come here. So please do!
