We are foreign visitors, and we have dined at many Michelin starred restaurants local and abroad. It wasn’t until we arrived at Reims that we noticed that the chef changed. We made our reservation several months ago in our country, at that time, the chef was still the previous one. ( And it was through google review that we discover the chef has changed.) We consider this as a kind of “fraud”, since no one has ever contacted us about the alter in chef.

Our reservation time was 6:30in the afternoon, when we arrived at the restaurant, we were lead to the garden. This is our first time being led to other places before dinging in our experience in Europe. People from the restaurant didn’t told us that we have to finish the whole bottle of champagne before we could get into the restaurant and start our dinner, therefore, it  was until 8:40 that we finally get into the restaurant. The snack served when we were waiting were melted and collapsed, we suppose it was due to the high temperature and the long waiting time.

The champagne and wine are really good, however, despite the desserts, the other dishes are far from satisfying. The dishes are all salty, and we couldn’t taste layered flavors in the dishes, as other restaurants have. (For example, we can only taste saltiness in the meat, since the meat is salty, and the sauce is also salty. As for the dish made from cheese, we could only taste the flavor of cheese.)

Our third visit. I can't believe they are only 2 stars. They are the best restaurant in paris for us. Always welcoming. Great wine list especially Bourgognes and Champagnes on great price. I don't drink wine in restaurants because of the price but here I do. Also they have rotating champagne on glass which is hard to find in the US.

It was our first meal right after we had landed in CDG and also first restaurant in Champagne Region so our expectation were very high. We took the Plaisir de table course with wine pairing option. They used only the ingredients that were in the season so everything is fresh and flavorful.  The portions were considerably quite generous. The wine pairing went well with the food especially the champagne. We felt so much refreshing. The services were spot on (even we still dressed in airport look).  The staffs made us felt well-attended but not that much to feel uncomfortable. The restaurant is located in very beautifully building surrounding with gardens of which in the situated in the heart of Reims.

We were ushered onto their lovely terrace for an aperitif before lunch. Note that shorts 🩳 (even if it was 30C that day or tailored cut) are not allowed 🚫.  Chose a champagne cocktail & a rose champagne from a list wt majority of the drinks at around the €25 mark, wt champagnes at much more.

After drinks, we were led to the main dining area indoors. Very elegant as expected. There were a few set menus starting from their simplest Inspiration menu at €120 for 4 course (starter/mains/cheese/dessert) €160 wt wine pairing. The Plasir de Table €180 5-courses & €300 wt wine & the Ete 2024 €390 6-courses, €640 wt wines.

We took the 5-course wt wine. Pleased to say that we actually got wines with every course including the amouse bouche, which you normally don’t get…PLUS, there were sooo many mouthfuls of amouse bouches!!!     Didn’t think about it then but wt reflection, the wines were not the usual miserly 80cl which normally prompts me to think I want more. On the contrary, I remember thinking I need to be cautious as I was getting to “happy” too quickly 😉. I’m inclined to say that we got a generous 100cl pour. Wine pairing definitely worth it, especially when I was positively surprised by a dry white served wt the foiegras, but it was clever pairing for this particular starter as it paired superbly & preferable to the usual sweet wines.

We had a lovely time with our family and friends. The staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel is marvellous and the suites we booked were luxurious and spacious.
Diner and breakfast are always great experiences here. Delicious and nicely presented dishes and one of Europe best wine lists to pick from.
