Rogh's Deli is a beautiful little establishment. I stumbled in through the door, exhausted from a seemingly endless flight from the US, on which every baby cried and the seats seemed even more confining than usual. Post-flight, I was haggard. My clothes were rumpled and I was weighed down by all my luggage, so when the waitress ushered me over to a quiet table by the window, poured me a tall glass of water, it truly seemed like I had arrived at the pearly gates. After a day of stale dry plane snacks, I was craving something fresh, so I chose a salad with arugula, mozzerella, figs, prosciutto that was drizzled in balsamic and came with a fresh warm piece of bread. I might have looked like a bedraggled street rat -desperately scarfing down every leaf and soaking up every bit of dressing with my bread - but inside I felt like a goddess, lounging on a cloud, daintily savoring each plump little fig. All that was missing was a tight demi-god bearing grapes and an eternally full pitcher of wine. I may have cried a bit when the salad was over. Truly though, this is a lovely spot that hits all of the notes where American restaurants often seem to be off key. The portions were perfect, the food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced and the ambience was clean and simple. If I ever opened a cafe, it would look a lot like this. It is, without a doubt, a winner and deserves every singe one of the 5 stars.

Dropped in here because it happened to be open for breakfast while walking on my way to the Foam Museum. I was immediately drawn to the bacon apple pancake. Sweet and savory! It was tasty and the perfect soft yet crisp texture. After having a lot of pancakes throughout this city the past week, their pancake holds up as my favorite Dutch pancake.

Honestly, I don't know what the hype is about. I found my experience to be mediocre but let me start with what I did enjoy. The people who work here are a family. It's a small family owned business and you can hear them actually talk and quarrel like a family at times. Not super professional but at the same time it's amusing and warm. I kind of liked it. Refreshing atmosphere, really! It might also be the Dutch zero f*cks to give attitude. Who knows? So, the service is good and even the chef is very nice. The location is great and the interior is simple and good. I would definitely hop in again for a quick bite! I will have to because I really want to give them a better review but unfortunately, based solely on their Philly cheesesteak, I cannot. It was bland and greasy. That's it. I can't really say more. Those two words perfectly describe how it was. Bland. And. Greasy. It was so greasy, in fact, that my oesophagus tightened so uncomfortably. It stopped me from further eating and breathing became painful and difficult. I'm not kidding. Sure, it might have been psychological but it was very uncomfortable, nevertheless. My garbage disposer.. err.. friend, I mean, had to finish my plate. I will pop back in and order something else and update my review. It might have been a bad day but I was excited to have some Philly cheesesteak and I was let down.

Return of the blondie.... After I found out you can get philly cheesesteak AND blondies at Rogh's Deli, I had to get my tokhes over there asap. Upon arrival, I found a cute pastel tinted deli with a friendly black lab laying in front. The deli is a serene oasis, perfect to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy Vijzelstraat. The big shop window offers a front row seat for people watching. This is not the best place to go if you're in a rush though, since the staff does take their time to prepare your order. It didn't bother me, gave me some time to cuddle with the dog...Serenity now, philly cheesesteak in a bit and insanity later, heheheh ;) I think I remember this place from a distant memory. If I remember correctly, I got my 1st tub of Professor Grunschnabel here years ago, Banana Bahiana. I'm not sure, but if so, the place looks completely different now. Didn't see any ice cream on this visit, that's okay though cause they serve good sandwiches and homemade comfort meals to eat in or to go. So far, I've only tried the philly cheesesteak. But trust me, that's enough reason to come here! Also tried a slice of their apricot pie they had for special that day. It was nice, but apricots are generally not my fruit of choice to turn to when baking a pie. Definitely loved the pie crust with nuts though. The banana bread had good flavor but was a bit dry in texture. It did help to warm it up, but I've baked moister banana bread myself. What? No blondies??? Turns out that they did sell blondies at one point, but stopped serving them. WHY??? Please start serving them again, preferably with chunks of macadamia nuts in them, pretty please!? Got a brownie instead to comfort myself with the disappointment of having to leave without a blondie...

Open more hours than Yelp has listed. Try the apple bacon pancake - Phenomenal "American" bacon. Also tried the fruit with vanilla creme. Delish too. Decent coffee.

The best Caesar salad I've ever had! It had a poached egg, bacon, anchovies and chicken on top. They definitely did not skimp on the Parmesan cheese! Maybe a little heavy on the salad dressing, could ask for it on the side.

My friends and I stumbled across this deli not looking for anything in particular. However, we found a deli with a great selection of organic and free range foods and reasonable prices. The man and woman running the place were friendly and spoke both English and Dutch fluently, so ordering was no problem for travelers like us. The food we ordered (turkey mozzarella, apple and bacon pancake, and Dutch meatball sandwich) was absolutely great. I'd rate the turkey mozzarella sandwich as one of the best/freshest sandwiches I've ever had and my friends enjoyed their dishes. We all got large homemade brownies after, which were, again, top-notch. The food was really something special. Well be going back as long as we're in Amsterdam.

We had wonderful breakfast pancakes here. We were lucky enough to have it right at the end of the street where we were staying and went a few time for breakfast. Try the pancake with the apples and bacon. They mentioned they are moving to a location down the street by the end of 2105 so by the time you read this the location may have changed.

Such a wonderful wholesome "mom and pop" restaurant. I got the the blueberry pancakes and yogurt with honey and almonds. Both items were quite delicious. A great ambiance and friendly, welcoming staff. They have a good amount of indoor seating. Will recommend. Pictures posted...

We went to the Rogh Deli late one morning, lured in by the promise of all-day breakfast. The place was cute and welcoming with 6 pastel coloured tables inside and a couple of tables out front. The proprietor, like all the Dutch people we met, was very kind and friendly. The food was fresh and tasty, they also had many organic selections and fresh squeezed juice. The prices were relatively reasonable; 2 eggs and toast was €5.50 and a tuna salad sandwich was €5. I would recommend this restaurant for anybody visiting Amsterdam.
