First meal on my first visit to Cape Town and South Africa. Was exploring the very impressive and busy V&A waterfront and decided to grab a quick lunch. Most of the restaurants there offered the local grilled meats and burgers.  I decided to try local specialities such as impala, kudu, crocodile, and ostrich. I chose the kudu as they did not have the ostrich. I had never tried or even heard of Kudu, and the server recommended it over Impala as I wanted something more tender. First up, they serve you their special bread, which had a sweetish taste along with a local pickled beef. Then came the mains, which was a fat chunk of Kudu meat served with mash and their house red wine sauce. The meat was delicious, although I should have asked for it well done. The sauce was rich and flavourful as well. A filling meal washed down with a pink tonic while soaking in the sun and watching the Table mountains. The service is competent with mention of the charming Deborah and her male colleagues. Cost me ZAR 425, which may be a bit steep but definitely worth it.

Love this place usually - good quality and consistent.
Today, they refused an outside table (I was only 1) but never sat anyone at the others. Stuffed me in without a view by a pillar. Had outside table on a Friday night so zero reason why couldn’t accommodate on a quieter Tuesday night.
Ordered a TBone medium rare - had some spiel about how there is no blood so will cook it less - came out rare and cold inside.
I sent it back (pretty relaxed about undercooking but was beyond my limit), but had already put my bone marrow into it.
Steak came out just as rare and no bone marrow. Asked for bone marrow (double charge) and it came out uncooked so couldn’t even eat it.
On top of this, ordered a cab sauv, was brought a white wine and then a blend.
Just get it right 🤷‍♀️ I only want what I’m paying for.
Final bill with main and dessert, and a lot of hassle, was 1300rand.
While their steaks are nice when cooked right, they seem to rely on V&A position and overcharge. And treat small tables dismissively (was here for work so would’ve tipped well) and just makes a nice meal out feel like an uncomfortable rip off of an ordeal which I wouldn’t repeat any time soon.

Came here for our final meal before leaving Capetown. Had read mixed reviews stating a bit of a tourist trap but we were on the V&A and really wanted a steak to finish the holiday.
Absolutely amazing wine list with so many available by the glass. The menu was fantastic as well with lots of steak choices as well as other dishes. I've had a couple of steaks overdone in higher rated steakhouse whilst here but all our steaks were cooked to perfection. Loved the onion blossom starter too.

A somewhat touristy place, but good and properly priced and grilled steaks. Service is attentive and fast, and the wine list is amazingly extensive.

First stop while visiting Cape Town and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Wagyu beef burger and it was delicious and came with chunky chips. Zola was my waiter and he was so attentive and knowledgeable. He recommended a Sauvignon Black that was to die for. Smooth and not too fruity. Definitely a place to visit and you have good view of Tabletop Mountain.
