Dinner was great here, attentive staff. Unusual to have a soup as a main course however it was fantastic and I would throughly recommend it. It is also a famous dish in Iceland and one that I tried in many restaurants during my stay. I found the one at Kol to be the best by far!

Steak was also delicious and very well presented, cooked as requested.

Cocktail were expensive and underwhelming so give them a miss.

Overall a good experience and I would return for the soup!

I made a reservation at Kol to celebrate my first night in Iceland and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent. The manhattan was perfect. I tried the taste of Iceland tasting menu, because I wanted to try the lamb. It was tender and lovely and perfectly cooked. The starter was a wonderful beef carpaccio. I asked to replace the cooked salmon plate with the salmon sashimi, and I’m so glad they allowed it because it was beautifully done. But the best part of the menu was the dessert. I was skeptical of licorice and caramel. I don’t really enjoy licorice, but I couldn’t get enough of this dessert. If I had the time, I would absolutely go back.

As a solo diner, I found myself stopping into Kol for an indulgent final dinner before my flight home. Taken in by the A-board outside boosting assorted menus, it was actually surprisingly hard to choose what to eat as it all sounded so good. As a terrarian, I was incredibly grateful to the staff for allowing me to swap out the salmon in the TASTE OF ICELAND menu for the Icelandic Burrata.
Each course of this meal was a textural and flavour treat.
Every course was delicious, and the portions sufficient to make this a filling meal.

They have a smart trick of leaving you with the cocktail menu only, before returning with the food and wine menu, so you're much more likely to order a cocktail. I for one live love a Waldorf Salad so couldn't resist ordering one. Not convinced it tastes of any of its famed ingredients to any recognisable level but it was enjoyable nevertheless, as was the glass of rosé that I ordered with my meal.

The beef starter yes incredibly tender, with a delicious sauce, and grapes which make the meat sing. The Burrata was creamy and delicious. It did hold together rather well, unlike some much more watery versions I've had. The table next to me had the charred salmon that I'd swapped, and said that it was the best salmon they'd ever eaten, but as it's not to my taste I cannot confirm either way.

The lamb was incredibly generous, and I had to abandon my portraits to make sure I could finish this juicy cut. Interestingly, this was also served with grapes, a fruit that I'd never seen paired with meat at dinner before but is represented twice on this menu. It works though, so whoever came up with it is smart!

I was nervous about the liquorice dessert but the brownie is textured now like a low-rise cake, and the flavours are very subtle so even if you're not a fan of liquorice, this is very enjoyable.

The toilets are at ground level and individual cubicles with sink inside, so it's another huge positive.

They are obviously experienced with tourists, and it was interesting to see that they could mostly guess which language server to send to each table. There was a distinct effort to provide excellent service, from the little things like presenting the menu open to the correct language pages, to checking with the kitchen if the set menu could be adjusted to substitute a dish.

At £115 it's the most expensive solo dinner I've ever had, but the quality of the food, ambience, and staff made it a worthwhile treat.

We had the 5-course brunch set (6900ISK) which was absolutely delicious.
You could do champagne pairing at 5000ISK. But we choose to try out the 4 Christmas cocktails a la carte. We enjoyed the Winter Sour and Christmas Gin Fizz the most.
In view that Iceland is quite pricey, the brunch here is value for money. (The dinner set is double the price).

I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to visit Iceland multiple times and I always enjoy spending my last night picking a more upscale restaurant to cap off my trip. This time I chose to dine at Kol and it was absolutely wonderful! From the moment I entered the restaurant I was greeted by a very friendly host and had my coat hung up for me. The atmosphere in the restaurant is perfect. Lighting was just right, Not too bright and not too dark. The food was delicious. I had the duck tacos appetizer and the fish of the day main with a side of the garlic truffle fries. The fish dish was wolf fish fillet with a cranberry sauce and green apple as well as broccoli and fondant potato. I was intrigued by the combination of apple, cranberry and wolf fish so I had to try it. It far exceeded my expectations and then some! The dish was a home run. The components of the dish all worked so well together. The sweetness from the apple, tartness from the cranberry, slight bitterness from the broccoli, buttery potatoes and delicate fish…… everything was so well balanced! The garlic truffle fries were also great. For dessert I had a wonderful “tiramisu” that although not traditional tiramisu, was very original to Kol and of course very delicious! Overall Kol was lovely! Great upscale restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik that everyone should experience while in Iceland!
