I wish I had read the reviews here first because many of the one star reviews are an accurate reflection on my accommodations.

First they tried the bait and switch to stick me in a room that was so small I felt depressed upon entering it.

When I spoke to the front desk they moved me to another room which was close to what I had booked, but not close enough. Posts and beams sticking out of the room by the window made much of the space unusable.

Whomever designed and approved the bathroom renovations should be punted. The toilet was in the shower and there was no shower curtain even though there was a rod. To use the bathroom after showering meant you had to dry the toilet. Really?!

Now the cleaning staff did a great job and the breakfast was terrific. One fellow from the kitchen even came around to make sure everyone was satisfied. So not all bad, but this in no way makes up for a deceptive scam by trying to stick me in a dump of a room where there was no way to get comfortable or organized.

This hotel really was a downer and made an extremely negative impact on this visit to Stockholm. And from reading the reviews I don't really think that hotel management, the owners or Best Western really care one way or another.

Just great. The rooms are small (thus 4 stars) but well appointed -- plenty of outlets to charge your devices. Facing the main road, I suppose you might have some traffic noise, but I asked for and was given a room toward the back and it was fine. The rooms are immaculately clean. Location is five stars. It is right on the quay in Gamla Stan, essentially in old town Gamla Stan. You can walk five minutes to multiple ferries and the tube is also close. There is a free breakfast every morning that is probably worth 30 Euros/Dollars: scrambled eggs, Swedish meatballs and other meats, cheeses, yogurt, fruit juices, granola cups, pancakes, every kind of bread, sweet roll and croissant imaginable, and of course good coffee. The breakfast bowled me over. The staff is extremely kind, helpful and most of all, efficient. After you've stayed in a few hotels, you quickly pick up on whether  management knows how to run one. They do at the Hotel Gamla Stan. When I return, I'll stay here.

The location is perfect, close to the ferry station, which is very convenient. There are many restaurants nearby that offer good service. The neighborhood is quite nice and feels safe even in the evenings.

As for the rooms, they are rather small, and the space layout is a bit odd, with only a small closet. For a week’s stay, it’s somewhat difficult to find space for all the belongings of two people. The service is good, with housekeeping staff coming regularly. The breakfast is excellent, very enjoyable, and complete.

Everything was absolutely wonderful here. Walked in at midnight after my original hotel left me without any way into my room, and the man at the front desk here was very nice and accommodating. Breakfast is included and it's fantastic, many different kinds of food and drinks. This will be the only hotel I ever book in Stockholm from now on. Always someone at the desk 24 hrs.

Cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had here. The people are all so friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, quiet, and we had an amazing view. The breakfast, oh myyyy, the breakfast is delicious!!! They even packed us a breakfast to go on the morning of checkout. The location is perfect. Overall, could not have been a better experience. We hope to visit again in the future.
