Upon entering the restaurant you immediately get a good sense of that lively Japanese izakaya atmosphere, with hip music playing in the background and superb Japanese interior surrounding which is refreshing and comforting. It’s the place to be at! Staff was attentive, friendly and helpful throughout the whole dinner and it was very much appreciated! There were classic Japanese beverages such as umeshu, yuzu, sochu and whiskey hais etc. which was delightful to choose from. We tried the Umeshu hai, Whiskey hai, Lemongrass mocktail cocktail and Asahi on tap. All of which were great. Though the drinks could’ve been served slightly bigger for their prices. The small dishes were pricey but worth paying for the experience because they did not disappoint at all! Poached oyster with a dashi+yuzu dressing to start with was new and super refreshing! It was presented beautifully. We then got our Sea bass, Negima and Butabara skewers with Karaage (deep fried chicken) and Yaki onigiri. The Sea bass skewer had a perfectly smokey taste and soft texture while the pork belly skewer served with a mustard and miso sauce was charred and full of unique and perfect flavors. The chicken together with leek on the Negima skewer balanced each other perfectly and the ckciken managed to be charred to perfection, still being super juicy and tender. The grilled rice balls were crispy and delicious. But best was the karaage. It was not too fatty, instead when biting into it juices from the tender chicken inside filled your mouth and together with the mayo and lemon served with it, it was an umami bomb! Overall, all the sauces that were served with the dishes were so rich in umami, we had to finish the last drop of it. It was hard not ordering more, but my wallet could not handle more. I wanted to try so many more dishes, but that will be for another day! Also even the toilets smelled great, everything was just clean in this restaurant. It wasn’t too fancy which I loved. Everything was top notch, a new favorite of mine for sure!!!
