Having eaten at Urchin several times including the famous Tuna Fight Club. There are some really great things to say about this new location.

One thing that made a massive difference was the height of the bar stools. For obvious reasons (daily supermarket operation) the stools in Urchin and much taller which makes it more of a difficult process when dining.

I do feel I could have stayed and eaten more. An hour to enjoy the sushi don’t get me wrong, wasn’t the best amount of time. But the sushi overall made up for it in leaps and bounds.

I can understand trying to draw a balance for profitability and customer service.

I would probably like 1.5hours ideal to enjoy a full bottle of Sake with my meal and I probably would have ordered 10pcs more.

The stars of the meal were the red mullet, the salmon (surprisingly) and the scallop was 10/10.

But all in all it’s a very strong contender for London quality sushi.

The quality of the fish here is high class, but I just couldn’t justify the prices. Although I visited in the soft launch, we were told we can only order once so it was hard to know how much to order. We had 8 pieces each and that came to almost £80 each, which is with 50% off. Not sure how they claim to be affordable… I would not pay £15-20 for one nigiri at the full price. It’s super expensive but it felt rushed and the fact that we had to place the order all at once was not ideal.

The dinner was exceptional, as we tried every nigiri on the menu. Yes, the price is high, but you are paying for high quality sushi.

The restaurant recently opened its doors and clearly still has some kinks to iron out. During our visit, the online reservation system clearly reflected indoor seating, however the host was adamant on sitting us outdoors at a lackluster small wooden table. Thankfully an experienced manager (Katherine?) stepped up and skillfully was able to right the ship.

We will be back and will zero in on the lobster nigiri again.

First and foremost, the service was very good. The properly cooked rice was served at the right temperature and the lobster nigiri excellent. This place is by no means cheap but was fairly priced compared to other Japanese high end restaurants. One major disappointment was that eel wasn’t the main highlight of the menu. Booze was exceedingly pricey.

A lovely little spot nestled in West Bourne Park Notting Hill Gate as I walked past, I immediately did a double take. It looked clean smart and stylish. I was hooked. I arrived and the lovely Fennel talked me through the menu and made me feel at ease.

Yes, it is pricey BUT the fish is very fresh and the owner owns the opposite restaurant and also a fish shop. The produce is definitely worth the quality, so I suppose it's a nice treat for some!

The service was exemplary, I felt like this is a great spot if I had a sushi lover coming to London I'd bring them here. It's a small(ISH) place and I came in on a weekday afternoon though I hear the weekends are busy.
