The best meal we have ever had! We sat at the kitchen table and it was lovely. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Kitchen staff went out of their way to answer questions and explain the dishes and their processes. The wine pairings were exceptional. We also got lucky enough to sit at a table and meet other fabulous families and couples, and engage in fabulous conversation. I’m sure it’s the same for any table, full of adventurous eaters and friendly faces. Couldn’t recommend more!

I almost don't want to write a review because more people will go there but everything about the Three Chimneys is sheer magic. First I have to say that my drive from Edinburgh took much longer than I planned so my arrival was about three hours later than excepted on dark rainy roads. When I arrived Sheila rushed from behind the desk to welcome and give me a much needed hug. Sheila is that person who instinctively knows what you need and ensures you get it. She arranged so many great things for me with joy!  That was just the beginning of the magic because every single point of interaction with the wonderful humans who worked there proved that this group cares about your experience in a genuine way. Nothing was false or pretentious just genuine care for your enjoyment. The food was delicious (even better than Loch Bay Restaurant) and the head waiter ensured my birthday dinner was special. I did the Chef's Table as well and it was wonderful albeit we did have a little heated debate with the sommelier about French wines (I was for them he was against them), but what's life without a discussion of wine!?  They even kept a birthday bottle of Champagne that was sent to me from friends in the US on ice in my room each day I was there. Dave was the guy who made sure I knew about the best gin and whiskey along with other great conversation about whiskey and life. I'm pretty sure he gave me extra shortbread:)

This is the place to go if you want to experience luxury with ease. Small, intimate and spectacular.

Sheila at the front of house was great. She sat myself and my partner down to have a drink whilst we waited for our table and was very easy to talk to and had a warm personality.
Ellie our server for dinner was polite, well mannered, had a good knowledge of the meals. I hope she gets her car back ok!
Great service and great food, would definitely come again.

It breaks my heart to only give three stars but there are a few reasons for this.     This place has a big reputation to live up to so expectations are high, but from the moment we walked in, everything seemed very impersonal.   There wasn't much atmosphere and the whole experience felt like a production line.  Our waiter was lovely ( but a bit hopeless) and we were never properly greeted when we entered.   The tables were pretty crowded ( however, we had a wonderful conversation with the delightful couple next to us) and there was not much atmosphere.    I started with the marmalade martini - the bartender really knows his stuff!   However, I thought the food overall was rather average ......for this level.    The first few bites were nice, but then it was a bit overwhelming in terms of richness and lack of texture.   The scallops were cooked to perfection, but the Dashi broth tasted like it had soy added (?).  Anyway, I guess they were classic ( french technique?) Type dishes but not too memorable.   We did ask for some more bread - we heard another table ask for the same - but were told there was not enough.   Fair enough, but half an hour later another table nearby was offered more bread.   I started to feel a bit uncomfortable.   I've no doubt the kitchen was really working hard but in the end the whole experience was rather soulless.  Maybe three chimneys suffers by comparison to another restaurant we visited on Skye this trip - same price range but exceptional food and service.

Wow! What an amazing experience. One of the coolest dining experiences of my life. We were lucky to have the chefs table to ourselves and got to watch the kitchen make the food and have the chefs explain the dishes themselves. Not only was this incredibly cool but such incredible food. Loved that every dish had a story and was locally sourced!
