My husband was told: they're 'doing some work done.' The minute I walked in the room: I'm finding Red Flags. I ignored them. I started taking photos, as I normally do. Then, I noticed, the tub faucet was dripping, and rust (brown) spot on the tub wall, so I thought it must be a faucet problem. We notified (on our way out) the front desk. She jot them down on paper. We came back after our dinner, and my husband decided to take a shower. As he got in the tub, he announced: 'there's no hot water'. Now, the Red Flags start pilling up! He was aggravated, he didn't take a shower. He got dressed, went back in the lobby and told the front desk. (He didn't want to get another room, we have to be in bed early, to be where we wanted to be by 6:00am). We were told: "they just put in a new hot water heater, the water has to drip for 20 mins. . . ." During the night, as we let the water drip in our tub, the water coming out was not hot, or warm, it was cold water." As I turn on the lights, there's two bulbs, with one working. The lights on my table where I'm typing now, flickering, or one not working. By this time, I'm ready to find another room, or get my money back, and yes, I was thinking of disputing to my Credit Card, if they're not going to do something about it. I encouraged hubby, we need to get another room, so I CAN TAKE A SHOWER, or going elsewhere! We talked to the front lobby desk, and he told us: "didn't the front desk told you all that, yesterday when you checked in?" She told us: "they're having some work done!" We waited to go downstairs, until 6:05am, to get breakfast! There was NONE! She was supposed to tell us: "nothing is being served for the rest of the week!" Lucky, we weren't disappointed we still made it to our destination! I'm still having a fit, because I didn't get my shower! I had to use the bar, for warm water towel bath! As we returned from our outing, we finally got moved to another room, but we waited two hours, for another CLEAN ROOM, down the hall! Paying for two rooms, at an INN With SUITES, like HAMPTON, can do better than a highway cheap sleezy motel! That's not acceptable!

We will absolutely be coming back to this hotel! The staff was fantastic--friendly, engaging, and always eager to help. Kris/YN was especially great--so warm and welcoming--and Cassandra was awesome as well. The people coordinating the breakfast were also very engaging and made mornings enjoyable. It was wonderful to see management working alongside the team, setting a great example and creating such a positive atmosphere. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable!

Foyer was musty smelling, there were cracks in the tiles, wallpaper was peeling, brown water came out of bathtub faucet. I wouldn't stay there and was told I would not get a refund because I checked in 15 minutes late. I was never told there was a time limit to get refund. I left and we stayed at another place 20 minutes away in a clean, fresh smelling and tidy Holiday Inn Express. Don't stay at this Hampton Inn. To add insult to injury, it was also quite expensive. If I could give zero stars, I would.

This building does not warrant having the Hilton brand name on it. The carpet and tiles throughout the building are horrendous. Stained and torn everywhere you look. It took the front desk four attempts to get the key programmed correctly. This may have been because he was spending a good deal of time smoking pot in the parking lot. I'm not sure which the worst part of the room was. Either the rusted out air conditioner, the wallpaper peeling off the wall in the bathroom or the black mold on the wall behind it. It goes without saying my company will never use this property again but will more than likely use exclusively Marriott properties from here out.

My husband and I booked a two day stay here this past weekend for our one year anniversary because of the nice pictures and good reviews. Upon arriving, we felt a sense of unease because the outside looked a little unkempt. When we walked in, we noticed it was a bit warm with a weird smell, but we hoped the room would be better. We were welcomed warmly as we got more inside by the lady at the front desk - she was very nice and made checkin very easy. Then comes the room: - again, hot with a weird smell - stains on the bench at the foot of the bed - stains on the floor - residue on the air conditioning unit - mold in the drawer - very dirty shower - dark water stains on the toilet After about 15 minutes of inspecting and talking through options with our husband, we decided to leave and ask for a refund. We were given refund for only the second day that we booked and ended up having to just eat $150. I will say that we were offered to look at another room, but after what we saw in the first one, we were very uncomfortable. Again, the front desk lady was very nice and understanding, and asked us to send her the pictures we took, so hopefully the standard of cleaning will improve in the future. I booked the hotel through Expedia, and the front desk lady said that she didn't think I could get my money back through them, but after leaving and calling an Expedia agent, Expedia talked to the hotel and said that the hotel refused to refund me for my first night's stay. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures and reviews. I'm sad to say I would not recommend this hotel.

Upon walking into the Hampton Inn in Irondale, I immediately felt welcomed - there was my name on a board welcoming me as a Hilton Honors member. As I finished checking in, I was given a goodie bag stuffed full of snacks, candy and water. I felt like it was Halloween and from the festive decorations in the lobby, I wasn't too far off! Our room was large and very clean. The towels were plentiful and I like how Hampton is converting their tubs into walk-in showers. The little bottles of toiletries have been replaced by larger bottles attached to the walls of the shower and over the sink. I've always taken home my extra bottles to donate to the local homeless shelter but I also appreciate less waste and less plastic. They did still provide the makeup remover wipes - I wish every hotel provided these. We had a 5 AM flight so weren't able to eat breakfast but it looks like the waffle makers are back! I sure missed those during Covid. Parking was plentiful but the absolute best part? Long term airport parking is available and free! You heard me, FREE!! I couldn't believe it. There is no shuttle but NBD - our Uber was only $12 and arrived in less than 15 minutes (at 3:45 AM no less). One thing - when coming up the hill toward Old Grants Mill Road from I-20, you will see a Hampton Inn sign with an arrow. The turn is right after the arrow, not at the arrow, it was a little deceiving at first. We usually fly Southwest which necessitates us driving 100 miles to Birmingham. Very often we need to spend the night - Hampton Inn Irondale will most definitely be my hotel of choice.

Second stay here. We checked in and the rooms were not very clean. When turning on the bathroom lights roaches appeared. The bathroom towels had holes in them. There was no blow dryer in the room and I called the front desk only to be told they didn't think all the rooms had them. The morning breakfast looked fine but after seeing roaches in the room we decided to eat out.

The hotel is at a convenient location near I-20. That is the only positive I can muster about this hotel. Otherwise, it is 100% the worst hotel I have ever encountered. The average review value on the Hilton website suggested a much more positive experience, perhaps back from when this hellhole had seen better days. Overlooking the drab appearance of the lobby, I checked in and received my room key. Riding the elevator up, I noticed the sign that indicated how finding bugs in your room should be considered "lucky" and some excuse as to why they could not possibly keep their crappy hotel free of bugs. Upon arriving at the floor, there was a large and loud floor fan, presumably running to mitigate some long-standing moisture issue. And upon entering the room, the odor was unbearable. Retreating back to the lobby, I informed the front desk that I would not be staying. The front desk clerk was both indifferent and surprised. They obviously know it is a rotten building that should be condemned by the authorities. The only thing needed for this hotel is a bulldozer. In the interim, however, it might be a suitable location to film a horror movie; it already smells like death anyway.

My expectations for this room were not met, given the price we paid. Below are my disappointments about the room: The water pressure in the shower was terrible which led to long showers just to wash all soap off The vent was noticeably filthy The closet door which functioned as a floor length mirror was cracked all the way across, which is a hazard to children who may knock against it and shatter it completely Coffee was awful Was not expecting the dangerous hooks at the bottom of mattress that stuck out and hurt my leg when I walked by The landscape was not maintained outside As far as staff goes: Front desk clerk on phone and went outside leaving the desk unattended- that's fine but we waited a while for him to come back because we had questions about our stay in Irondale. Initially when I booked the two rooms we needed the receptionist kept putting me on hold and was extremely agitated I feel like this review is a waste of time because staff and or management obviously do not care- but I feel like Hilton Hotel as a brand should know. To be honest I could stay in this hotel again, but certainly not for the rate of 150 a night.

So my compliments to the front desk staff. Courtney and Edwundra were awesome. Friendly, helpful and helped us resolve problems as best they could. As far the hotel, Hilton properties need to invest in a remodel for this hotel. Great location, great breakfast and breakfast staff, but ownership should be ashamed to have allowed this hotel to get to the point it has. Good people can only do so much to make up for the property which has been "let go" by ownership.
