I truly do not understand why this bar/restaurant is not raved about more. This is why you have to take negative reviews with a grain of salt, this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service 10 out of 5. The ribeye is a 15 out of 5. The atmosphere is incredible. And listen up, the basque cheesecake is by far the best cheesecake I have had in my entire life.

Came here after dinner just to taste their well-known Basque burnt cheesecake. You can see from the people inside and outside of the restaurant that most are here to taste this cheesecake.
It’s good but I would say not the best cheesecake I’ve had. I would say cheesecake in Japan that I’ve tasted is better to my preference. It all depends on your own preference of what is a good cheesecake.

The basque cheesecake seems to still be clumpy and not as soft as I thought it would be. Interesting, I brought it back to the hotel and refrigerated it. The next morning, the texture tasted better.

Still give it a try as it is a very popular spot and needs to be on your bucket list when visiting San Sebastián.

La Viña’s tarta de queso was DELICIOSO.  It was worth the five year wait (because of COVID).  The atmosphere of the restaurant is hectic whatever time of day you visit.  But be patient and friendly, the staff will service you with a smile and in an efficient manner.

The restaurant is extremely popular because of its exceptional food, they are truly out of this world!!! The monkfish and beef were outstanding, and everyone loved the calamari and ham. The cheesecake OMG…I’m not a fan of cheesecakes generally but I LOVED their Cheesecake, best ever! It was very creamy and delicious.

We had a really delicious cheesecake. However, what made us leave the place happy was the smiling face and energy of Miguel, who was in charge of our service. Since the tables in the back were full, we asked if he could serve at a table next to the Pincho bar, he immediately set up the service with paper cloths and took care of our needs throughout the meal. When a friend of ours was late, he suggested taking the food inside and warming it up because it was cold. These seem like simple gestures, but for the crowded restaurant environment of San Sebastian, these are subtle gestures that we have not seen anywhere else. Since our expectations were very high, the food was not as great as we expected, but it was still good. And to reiterate, the cheesecake was great.

Last year, we went to the restaurant downstairs (which accepts reservations). This year we arrived about 30 minutes before opening and were first in the queue for the bar.

Once inside, the staff were friendly and efficient food was mostly great.  I felt the tomatoes were a bit too salty.  The mushrooms were awesome.  We ordered the red shrimp that we saw on the bar (not on the menu) and the waiter was professional enough to warn us that it was expensive (~€30 per piece).  It was one of the best I've ever tasted.

While we ordered expensive dishes I was very pleased at the price/quality ratio.  The menu is impressive in terms of affordability if you are on a budget.

Came here twice during my trip and pretty much got the same food items. Service is quick but the wait can be incredibly long and there is not much space to sit. If you're lucky you get a seat otherwise you may need to stand. The standouts are the mixed mushrooms with raw egg, razor clams, baby squid. Prices are much higher compared to the nearby pinxto bars but the food is delicious and you can't miss it.

Came to this bar twice during my visit and thought it was one of the best tapas bars in San Sebastián. My favourite dishes are the r giant prawns which taste exquisite - almost more like lobster but sweeter. The mushrooms were also excellent! Great bustling vibrant atmosphere. Arrive 15’min prior to opening at 7pm to get a table quickly. Otherwise long wait and lines.

So incredibly good - one of our top 2 pintxos places. I recommend queuing around 30 mins before they open to ensure you get a spot. Mushroom + egg dish was our absolute favorite. I was here a few years ago but I didn't remember the name, so I went to different bars and looked for a mountain of mushrooms in the corner. It was probably the 10th bar I visited, but when I entered I immediately recognized this place.
We had a wonderful lunch at Elena Arzak's and we didn't feel like eating at all, but each dish encouraged us to order another one and in the end we ate probably 8 different dishes. Everything was delicious. I will come back here and definitely recommend it to everyone.
