Probably you can spend around 3hrs to walk around this area. There are some amazing stone creature and view. There is one look out point you can see beautiful scenery. From entrance to the park you will need to walk around 3km, advise to pay certain amount of money get into buggy let them take you there. Recommended to tourist ..

We visited this attraction as part of our tour. There were a lot of people at this park and it was quite noisy due to the other tour guides using portable loudspeakers. There is a long walking path, but we chose to ride the electric buggies. The karst formations are fascinating, with many showing a horizontal crack along the rocks. This was caused by the water level in an ancientake which subsequently disappeared. Many of the rocks are said to resemble characters in Chinese folklore. Despite the crowds, this Unesco world heritage site is worth a visit.

Magnificent stone forest in Kunming. It's VERY crowded with buses of tourists even if it's not peak season. So don't expect it to look like the (tourist-less) photos. There'll be people offering to take photos with professional camera to sell to you at around 10 yuan.

stone forest is beautiful for its structure, you need ticket for entry. very large area, need a full day to roaming all over the forest. so fun to getting lost on its trail.

Despite seeing pictures, the experience of visiting this site exceeded our expectations.

On the advice of another visitor we headed away from the noisy tour groups (guides use amplifiers) to Bushao Hill, which is about 500m from the entrance. Once there we saw no one for much of our walk to the ancient rock paintings via mother and child rock.

If we’d had more time we would have explored Wannianlingzhi area, too. I suspect few visitors get that far.

Because we were running out of time, we flagged down a shuttle bus to get back to the entrance.

We didn’t realise the shuttle bus back to the car park doesn’t return to the pick up point and we were dropped at a shopping and restaurant centre we’d never seen before.

Luckily, our driver was able to find us when we sent him our location.

This was definitely an excursion worth doing. If you want to explore at your own pace, don’t go with a tour.
