The Sapmi exhibit was such a wonderful experience, especially for a rainy day. Each work of art was thoughtfully explained in the available pamphlets. Wide variety of media. The staff was so sincere and caring, and we had a really heartfelt conversation about the exhibition’s significance to all of us today. I loved it!

I love museums and this one as great. I enjoy a museum that is dedicated to a single artist. They have a lovely cafe and gift shop if you don’t buy tickets. However, the tickets are worth it. The collection is excellent and not overwhelming. I would suggest 1.5 hours for a visit. Don’t miss the floor that is dedicated to his home life. It’s really interesting and very creatively executed. The Scream is great to see, but he has so many other interesting works. There are also free lockers for coats and bags. The view of Oslo from the top deck is also a nice bonus.

Definitely worth a visit! The Munch exhibitions are great (although The Scream set of pictures were unavailable when I visited, due to maintenance). There are also usually other prominent artists' shows on, on some of the 11 floors of this large gallery - when I visited there was a disturbing but outstanding show by Vanessa Baird. You can also visit a cafe bar on the 12th floor which has spectacular views of the city (you don't need to buy anything to see the views). For some reason when I visited on a Saturday evening in late November the museum entry was free, but it's usually about €13. There are free lockers for your backpack, and there is a cafe on the ground floor.

A must-see in Oslo - highly recommend to get the audio guide via App. The selected pieces are very representative for the different themes and are explained briefly but to the point.

The only hall which was overcrowded is of course the hall with the famous Scream. Every few hours one of the different versions is presented. So you can take your time in the museum and appreciate the different versions at one after the other. The most impressive thing is the hall with the theme Sun - huge format of painting, we were thrilled and deeply touched. You can feel the warmth of the sun, the love to the nature and the nation of the artist.

The architecture itself is a fantastic artwork.

I was hesitant about this gallery at first because I only knew about the Scream and whilst it is iconic, it is not a painting I'd want on my wall.  However, this is one of the best art galleries I have been in.  I spent 6 hours in it and was enthralled.  The exhibitions are superb and you get a sense of the whole of the artist's life and development.  The other factor is the building, which is a stunning piece of architecture.  The views from the roof bar and terrace are fabulous and worth the entry price alone.

The Munch is a really nice museum that houses many of Edvard Munch’s works throughout his career as well as other pieces that were inspired by Munch.  There’s also a neat exhibit that chronicles Munch’s life, which I really appreciated.  There are 13 floors with a restaurant at the top that provides a great view of Oslofjord.

We had the moules frites, pate, and the braised pork cheek pie. The pate was less soft than I expected but the flavor was still good especially with the soft and sweet figs that were cooked down almost to a paste. The mussels were great, with tons of flavor from the steaming liquid. The mussels themselves were a bit on the smaller side but they were still plump, tender and very ‘clean’ tasting. The pie had very nice chunks of tender pork meat and veggies though I felt the liquid inside was a little thin and could have been thickened up more. Both the sauces from the mussels and the pie were tasty but somewhat wasted without any bread for dipping. I also had a very enjoyable and educational lesson in aquavit, trying three kinds to compare flavors. The basic one is simple and nice though maybe a bit harsh for some people. Almost medicine like with a mild botanical flavor. The ‘linie’ version had the fun story of travelling on a ship to the equator and back (i.e. the ‘linie’ or line) to age and pick up flavors of the sea. It did indeed taste more mellow, less sweet though it’s a stretch to say it picked up the flavor of the salt and sea as the story goes. The casked aquavit was my favorite. A very smooth, syrupy, round flavor almost of honey or a fruit reduction. The alcohol harshness was all gone and I will likely try to pick up a bottle from the duty free later. Thank you for the great meal and educational experience.

Lovely place for a quick (but high quality) lunch or an evening out.

The food was very tasty and beautifully presented and the wine list was decent quality. Very friendly service. Also, I thought it was very good value for the quality.

One word of warning. If you go during the day it’s very easy to find because it’s a natural progression from the Museum. If you go on a quiet weekday evening it’s not so easy to find. Entrance is through a closed (and pretty deserted) cafe and then by a lift. Although there are lots of doors to the cafe, only one is open.

Don’t be discouraged though. It’s well worth the effort.

We had a team dinner here. Visited this right after our visit to the Munch Museum and must admin that the place is just lovely.
The team was a bit bigger and few of our seats were inaccessible for the waiters to serve, so it became a slight challenge.
The taste and presentation of the food was just excellent. The location is so nice with all glass walls so you can watch the city around it.

Stopped after a visit to the Museum for a drink but stayed for dinner, no reservation. Had the Scallop app and Celeriac main dish, several glasses of wine and cheese selection dessert. Dishes very flavorful, excellent service, must have a great view on a sunny day, multiple seating areas.

Booked this restaurant after a visit to the Munch Museum. My main motivation was the view that is advertised; however, note that when it’s not warm, one sits inside and then the view is somewhat interrupted by the material of the façade of the restaurant, that means that you don’t see it through completely clear windows. The service is very high end and attentive, and the atmosphere was super nice with enjoyable music and lighting. The food unfortunately was just fine. We thought all dishes lacked salt, which was also a surprise since I ordered a Salt Baked Celeriac. My partner ordered the lamb and this was also somewhat bland. The flavors were ok - didn’t feel like it matched the feeling one gets from the restaurant.
