We didn't want to go to a big museum and this was perfect.  Great photography of New York,  several exhibits on photography,  women's clothing through the ages, Tiffany Lamps, and more.  It is next to Central Park, so it a beautiful location.

Excellent, fascinating museum. I loved the 18 minute video (shown every hour) which presented a general history of NYC. The Bible which President Washington was sworn in on is there. I also loved the Robert Caro Exhibit and Thomas Cole’s Course of an Empire. Highly highly recommend; definitely worth visiting!

What a new museum experience. I enjoyed  the  Tiffany lamp collection and even got to design a color scheme for a lamp... Some parts of the  museum were more  interesting  than  other parts but overall a nice experience. Plus I went on a Friday and got to experience a top rate comedy show! Making sure I remember the museum for years to come.

What an absolutely fabulous museum! I didn't visit with too many expectations, but the New-York Historical Society truly blew my mind. There are so many wonderful exhibits sure to captivate you. During the time I visited, I got a chance to see Pets and the City, Enchanting Imagination: The Objets d’Art of André Chervin and Carvin French Jewelers, and The Collection: New Conversations. The exhibits were engaging, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the museum - there's so much to see.

I visited for free using NYC's Culture Pass program so if you are a resident and have a library card, I highly recommend checking out the Culture Pass website and getting your tickets there. If you're visiting from out of town, then I still recommend visiting this place. There is truly something for everyone here.

Side-notes: There are single-occupant bathrooms on the premise. There is a really well stocked gift shop on the main floor with a lot of great trinkets and souvenirs which change depending on the exhibition.

I like this place very much. I think it is the best museum in New York. There are not too many tourists, and the layout of the exhibition is very fascinating. In addition, the staff are also very professional and friendly.
