I’ve been to this restaurant twice and the experience was incredible each time. The attention to detail from the embroidered napkins to the waiters really sets this restaurant apart. The steaks are delicious and come with complimentary bone marrow. My partner had a lamb shank and he enjoyed it too. I also recommend the garlic sauce, it was a pleasant surprise as I usually get mushroom. The Parmesan mash is also great. They have a good selection of very well made cocktails and wines. The outside seating area is beautiful too

I can’t recommend this The Fat Butcher  enough!

They accommodated us last minute after a cycling tour. The food was outstanding—each cut of steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. The sides were delicious too, and the portions left us more than satisfied. To top it all off, the meal was fantastic value for money. If you’re looking for quality food, a warm atmosphere, and great service, this is the place to go.

My first time at the Fat Butcher and what incredible steaks! I couldn’t resist the 500g ribeye! Perfectly cooked on the rare side of medium rare, served with marrow bone for even more flavour. Definitely the best steak I’ve had in South Africa.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and even the owner came around to check on me
Excellent wine list, with all Stellenbosch wines and a decent price for the quality of the meat
And they are open on a Sunday night, which is unusual for Stellenbosch

Outstanding Outstanding.  Well done to The Fat Butcher. Entering the establishment was greeted warmly by all staff even those that were carrying orders to patrons. Our waitress gave perfect service.  Manager spent time at our table explaining the wines and our food experience. Steaks was soft and cooked to perfection. You can guess by now this place was fully booked. So I advise you to make a booking.  I am coming back :)

We enjoyed the dinner, appreciated their great service and friendly staff. I can't say the food/ meat was perfect but overall good experience and worth to try.
Will come again to try steak again. Desserts were 6/10. Starters 8/10.

We went for the garden tour followed by scones and tea. What a fabulous way to spend a morning. Leanne is so knowledgeable about her gardens and all staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel lounge is beautifully appointed and spotless. A definite must do

This was our second time staying at the Cellars. This was a very disappointing visit this time around. The staff (front desk) were cold and not helpful). The GM didn't seem to care on the issues that we brought up. They have no accountability. They didn't even attempted to offer any retribution to make us happy and satisfied. NOTHING!!

The room that they put is in was the worst room my husband and I have ever stayed at. The room decor didn't follow the normal Liz McGrath collection. It felt more like a staff quarter or a cheap motel room. There was no luggage rack in the room. The Pringles that was in the mini bar was already open. They didn't have a bottle opener so we couldn't open the drinks that were on the mini bar. When we finally brought it up with the young lady at the front desk the following day, she was shocked. She  apologized but did not offer any resolution until another lady offered to replace it. My husband and I had dinner and the restaurant manager walked by and decided to approach the table behind us and completely ignored us as if we didn't exist. I've decided that he approached them because they were dressed nicely. It was very rude and we felt discriminated.

Overall, poor customer service. Staff weren't friendly. Horrible experience and will NEVER stay here again.

I don't even know where to start... this is the most impressive hotel we've stayed at. From check-in to check-out, it was a 5 star experience. SHL hotels are my favorite, and The Cellars live up to their name.

Starting with the grounds, this hotel is STUNNING! The view of the mountains, the gardens, the buildings, the gorgeous restaurants; there's no one corner that they haven't carefully design. The room was beautiful! The complimentary mini-bar was a nice touch and the free breakfast was delightful.

We rented a car while we were in cape town, and the only "complaint" would be the lack of street lighting on the road there. We arrived at night, it was foggy, and it was hard to see! Not their fault, but keep that in mind if you're driving. We fixed this issue by using Uber at night instead of driving, which is super cheap in CT.

I would 100% stay here in a heart beat! The service of the staff and their kindness matched their 5* status. Trust me, you need to stay here and experience it yourself :)

Great Hotel with a beautiful vintage interior deco. There's also a beautiful floral garden which adds to the charm of this hotel. I stayed there for a business trip and really enjoyed my stay as the room was so comfortable and had a wonderful choice for breakfast.
