The best way to see Mont Saint Michel is to stay there.  The Hotel Du Guesclin is a classic traditional French hotel with a restaurant.  Its tiny with an amazing view and is clean, easy to access, has great friendly staff and provides charming access to a monumental tourist site.  Pay extra and enjoy a delightful breakfast there, the perfect way to start your day.

Stayed here one night while visiting Mont Saint Michel. We received a very warm welcome and appreciated staff helping us with our limited French. Rooms are a bit dated as you are staying in a very old establishment but our room was very clean, comfortable, had a nice view and all the amenities we needed for a night stay. We had a nice dinner and breakfast service. I would definitely recommend staying here for a night while visiting, it is really peaceful at night time with very few people. Beautiful sunset from the ramparts.

Very good, large rooms, great bed and good bathroom. It doesn't have elevators, and walking with luggage seems like a bad idea on Mt. St. Michel in general.

We did not stay at the hotel, so my review is only for the restaurant.  We weren't too hungry and just needed to rest so we shared a salad with bread and a couple drinks.  There's nothing spacial but it is convenient.  Sure, I'd recommend, but there are other small restaurants along the narrow corridors.
