Absolutely lovely and amazing place. The staff was really nice and made the evening even more special. The food was outstanding and all of it was homemade. One of the best places in Tuscany.

Looking for an idyllic Italian restaurant with authentic food in a quiet Italian village, Il Papevero offers it all. I came here with my wife and parents during our stay nearby.

When you plan a visit, recommend to call ahead to make reservation, it gets busy in the evening with limited spaces outside and inside. Waiters are super friendly, explain entire menu (which is in Italian) to you in English, attentive service!

If you are want pizza, do not come here (not available on the menu). On offer are delicious varieties of pasta and meat. In my opinion, they are better than pizza!

Delicious food made with love. They take their time and it’s all good as well worth the wait. We had a 1,7kg of Tuscan bistec for 3 people and it’s was a lot but manageable although we couldn’t finish the sides ; potatoes and asparagus. Looking back, we shouldn’t probably have had starters. Claudio and his wine recommendations were brilliant - all very locally produce. We are coming back next weekend!!!

My family and I had one of our favorite dining experiences in Italy here at Il Papavero. We are staying at a local winery and were looking for something close by, and were fortunate to make a reservation for dinner. We arrived slightly early and were joyfully greeted by our host (possible owner?). He let us choose where we wanted to sit, and were happy to accommodate us wanting to sit outside. He and his female coworker went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, giving recommendations for food and wine, sharing the history of the town, even found a brochure of an artist whose piece we were admiring in the restaurant. The food and wine were delicious. We shared a cacio e pepe croquette-type appetizer with prosciutto and fig jam. So unique and delicious. We then had their gnocchi with pesto of the day-today being a black cabbage pesto, and wild boar ragu pappardelle. Again, both delicious. We finished with their tiramisu which was hands down my favorite since being in multiple areas of Italy for 2 weeks. All of the food was so fresh, unique, and extremely well priced. Along with the delicious meal, the kindness and engagement of the staff puts this restaurant above the rest. When I return to Italy this will be a priority stop for sure.

We really enjoyed the dinner at this place. Claudiu was an amazing host and we were served with love. The food was delicious and good quality, the service was fast and super friendly, and the place was cozy and clean. I’d definitely recommend this place.
