Everything at this hotel exceeded our expectations! The staff was incredible, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was amazing. Easy drive for skiing at Schnalstaler Gletscher and close to the beautiful towns of Naturno and Merano (both worth a visit!). We will most definitely be back and we really really recommend!!!

We came here for a short "pit stop" on our hiking tour. Great idea!! Cozy alpine cottage with rooms & restaurant. Delicious food, our dog was also welcome. But beware of the swallows, they live under the roof of the cottage and as we were there, they flew straight to the table. Adventurous lunch :)👍

The most amazing find. The owner and all staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and just so thoughtful. The rooms are adorable, clean, decorated with so much love for details, that transform the atmosphere back 100 years. The food is delicious and plentiful. Also, a 10 minute bus ride will bring you to the glacier to ski. Hiking  can be done anywhere around here and the views are breathtaking. We loved every minute of our stay. Thank you very very much, everyone!

The Oberraindlof is a good place to stay in the Val di Senales and ensured we had a great time discovering this corner of Alto Adige. It's popular with German and Italian families and couples who come for the hiking and many attractions. It's not easy to give a single rating so I've broken it down into several elements:

Location: 5
The maso is well positioned midway along the Val Senales and provides a convenient base from which to explore the valley. It's also 15 minutes from Naturno and close to many of the sights along the Val Venosta valley. There's a bus stop nearby and the road to the accommodation is very easy to drive with a convenient parking. Also, hikers can set out directly from the maso on well indicated paths up and down the valley.

Food: 4
We opted for half-board and enjoyed reading the dinner menu each morning and choosing from the 2 or 3 dishes the chef was planning. Breakfast was plentiful with sweet and savoury options, fresh bread and an orange juicer everyone loved. Evenings were equally good although service was occasionally slow and the night the chef had off featured an average buffet. Overall great ingredients, generous portions and traditional dishes served by waiters in local dress.

Service/Welcome: 3.5
The Maso is big with around 30 rooms and lots of guests. Staff and owners work very hard and are busy throughout the day. Still they have time to chat and make sightseeing recommendations. Not everything is explained on arrival but pretty soon you get the idea of how things work and join along. A brochure explains it all and no one is too busy to answer questions. Discount cards are provided to several sights and there are plenty of maps and reading material about the region.

Rooms/Decor: 3
The Maso goes back centuries and is decorated in classic Tyrollean style. There are several buildings and the old house where we stayed has the smallest rooms. Unfortunately we were not informed of bathroom size prior to booking and were surprised to find ourselves in very close quarters. An alternative room was offered however the difference in price led us to remain in room number 8. If you prefer to shower in a bathroom larger than what you'd find on an airplane avoid the attic rooms. Beds were comfortable, the skylight had a nice view of the mountains and the TV broadcast channels in German and Italian.

Activities: 2
Having visited several maso in the past we were expecting a working farm where children could get up close and personal with animals. This was not possible here. After dinner there was little in the way of entertainment apart from conversation and a deck of cards. Guests gather outside on the little terrace but soon went to bed. We would have loved (and recommend) getting a trampoline, ping-pong, or fuss ball table where kids and adults can play. Also, there is no dedicated recreation area and only one very sad playground toy in the back of the maso. The lack of activities is fine if you're traveling with toddlers but pre-adolescents and teenagers could use a little more stimulation.

Special mention:
The downstairs fountain was very convenient for filling up on water whenever we needed it and the Wednesday night Tirolese music and dancing was a lot of fun for everyone.

Overall: 3.75
Probably would not go back (we like to change valleys every year) but we had an enjoyable weeklong stay here nevertheless.
