Stunning pub, roaring open fires, great choice of food and lovely service. We had two turkey Christmas dinners and a veggie nut roast all excellent, served hot and tasty. Wish we lived closer!

we’ve had the pleasure of dining at The Packhorse three times now, and it’s been absolutely brilliant on each occasion. Our first visit was to celebrate my wife’s birthday, just the two of us, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. On our subsequent visits, we brought along different friends, and they were just as impressed as we were. Each time, we’ve tried different dishes from the menu, and we’ve loved everything—the food and drinks they offer are simply outstanding. The service and atmosphere are equally fantastic, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We’ll certainly be visiting again

The food is amazing and the service is even better. We got to hear about the wine we chose and how it was selected to be on the menu as well as getting some good recommendations for other wines to try in the future.

Easily one of my favourite restaurants in the UK. The combination of low ceiling, exposed beams showing the age of the building, and warm lighting, make the atmosphere very welcoming and cozy. Not to mention the fireplace and that it is dog friendly.
They are very good for Gluten free people, as all of the dishes have their respective allergens listed. You can also see the calorie count.
I've been there a couple of times and all the food ordered every time is delicious. I would strongly recommend going for a dessert as well with the chocolate foundaint!

Love this place, always a lot of hikers in the main pub area, getting what looked like homemade soup and fresh rolls,. Roaring fire.
The main restaurant is large with lots of smaller books.
The food is top notch. Order the lamb shoulder and it just melted in my mouth.
Such a treat to eat here.

They also still manage to make it feel like a local pub, there is always a note from the owners explaining what events are on this month, there are meet ups for dog walkers every month with bacon rolls to start. They do Hogmanay events etc, you just know they care about their customers.
