This was by far the most romantic restaurant we’ve ever been too. The atmosphere is cozy and family like. The wine pairing - magnificent. The food doesn’t even begin to describe the quality and intense flavours. Mind blowing.

An amazing experience (as always). Went for a Friday night dinner and we had the six course chef’s menu with delicious wine pairing - partly served by the chef himself.
We always keep coming back for the warm ambience, great service and truly top class food🙌🏻. A true recommender for anyone visiting Amsterdam and eager for a culinary night.

Based on all the good reviews we were looking forward to visiting De Compagnon. It's a cozy little place that invites intimacy and personal service but we have never been so disappointed! The food was no more than ordinary without much flavor - not to mention the sauce - and the service was terrible. The red wine was poured from an open bottle and five dead flies floated around the glass. When we pointed this out to the waiter, she said "Oh No" and took the glass and brought a new one - but she didn’t care much. A very long time passed between the servings and the waiters were more concerned with their own fun than paying attention to the guests. Very disappointing and expensive.

Very central location, 5 min walk from the central station. You can sit by the canal when it’s good weather. I tried the truffle lunch set, which is on Groupon. The presentation of the food is quite fancy. For 20 euro you get a full three courses meal. So very good deal in general. The staff are very nice too.
