I recently ate at Den Gamle och Havet, drawn in by the good reviews. I chose seafood and spaghetti. The food was okay, but not amazing as I expected. The service was alright, nothing special. The place was clean and busy. Overall, it was an okay dining experience, but not as great as the reviews made it seem.

Great food and professional service (always a pleasure) we sat outside on a balmy night but blankets and overhead heaters were at the ready.
The Artichoke entree and the Seafood spaghetti were standouts. The portions were large. I had the Oxtail Ragu which was great and could feed two easily, so share! Many thanks for a lovely evening.

Surprisingly authentic-feeling and very cosy restaurant with great friendly service and great food. Our party of six tried the classic Wiener schnitzel and the lamb racks, in addition to potato gnocchi (daily specials) starters, as well as a range of deserts. Schnitzels were huge, even the half portions, and were served with Austrian potato salad (using vinegar but little or no mayonnaise) - something rarely seen in Scandinavia - a side of salad and boiled potatoes with parsley. Very nice. The lamb rack was super tender and very flavourful too. All desserts were great, the chocolate fondant was liquid inside as it is supposed to be. Pairing the great authentic food, German/Austrian/Swiss drinks menu (beer/wine) with the small a and cosy place as well as the service this is a place to highly recommend.

All of the food we ordered where amazing!!  We had raclette cheese for starters and had the fish “catch of the day”. We ended with the chocolate fondant with orange and homemade vanilla ice cream. So good!! The staff are very friendly and fast. Loved everything and will definitely come back. 👌
