Copenhagen is filled with many incredible restaurants. Restaurant Barr just might be my favorite. Incredible experience and highly recommend.

Recently visited again with my family, and it was just as delightful. Trust the chefs and servers- go with the prix fixe courses.

From the decor, plating, and taste- everything is impeccable. Barr raises the bar on dining in Copenhagen, and that is no easy feat!

Lovely restaurant - the food, service, and atmosphere are alle great! Most of the waiters were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Always there, and lots of good recommendations. Almost all dishes were great - favorite was probably the tartar and shank. Only problem was that the portions were too big (!). The apple/kefir dessert was somewhat off: The ‘lid’ on top off it was so salty that it was borderline inedible. The other things in the dessert tasted great, though. The room is nice and cozy. I would say that comparing to other restaurants in Copenhagen, the food was a bit too pricy for what you get - you can get same level of food other places siginifcantly cheaper. No less, Barr is a great place to go for a very, very feel good- and comforting vibe

I had a very disappointing experience. I ordered the three-course menu with a pescatarian adaptation. The starter was a perfect representation of Nordic culture—great to try once, but not worth repeating. The main course was okay but a bit too salty. The dessert, however, was disappointing; the flavors were unbalanced between sugar and salt, resulting in an overwhelming experience for my stomach.

The wine selection by the glass was poor and unappealing. The option I chose from the limited selection was extremely mousy and evolved too quickly in the glass. I provided this feedback, but they charged me for the glass of wine anyway.

In conclusion, I feel that I totally wasted my money. It's disheartening when you choose from so many options, only to find that the experience is not even decent. There is much room for improvement if the restaurant wants to justify the cost of the experience.

We had an excellent experience here on a sunny July evening.

Clearly the Restaurant is busy, so we could only get a counter booking more than a week in advance. However, that gave us a direct view of the pristine kitchen, which was exciting.

The range of dishes is gratifyingly small, but you may want to plan ahead if you eat neither fish nor meat.

All dishes were memorable and special in their own way and evoked a definite sense of Danishness. The waffle (starter) and the dessert rolled crepe were standouts. As was the service, which was professional, exacting and personable.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Copenhagen local who had worked in the restaurant business so of course we had try it. I would say the overall rating is 3.5 but let’s round it up to 4.

First, let’s talk about the good:
The food overall was pretty good with a couple of highlights. The quail legs and waffle were the stand outs. The quail legs were cooked perfectly, the portion size was great for 2-4 people, the only thing I would recommend is a sprinkle of Maldon salt before service to bring out more flavor. The waitress said that the waffle is very popular and I can see why. It was salty, creamy and carby. What’s not to love. Everyone raved about the cod but I thought it was just ok, perhaps because it was luke warm when it arrived at the table. I found the sauce a tad too sweet, which overpowered the fish and the asparagus. We also ordered the tuna tartare, lobster linguini and the potato wrapped in pastry. Tuna was pretty standard, had a citrus Asian flavor; the potato was very French, heavy on butter and truffle. A tad rich but still enjoyable. We also ordered the lobster roll, pretty standard, nothing to write home about. They are definitely generous in the ingredients they use which was nice to see.

Now, let’s talk about the not so good:
Service wasn’t bad but we did notice that being a family of color, we were definitely deprioritized by our waitress. I don’t think it was prejudice but rather a level of discomfort like she didn’t know if we spoke English or if she would be able to converse easily with us. The service was slower than we liked but they did get very busy. The one thing that was a big minus was how all the main dishes came out at different times. I was really surprised by this, isn’t a cardinal rule to have all appetizers arrive at once, followed by main all at once. The lagged timing made it difficult for us to enjoy all our meals together so it was took away the rhythm and vibe of the entire dining experience.

Overall, I would say the meal was worth it. They clearly use high quality ingredients and the dishes are innovative but experimental. We spent almost KR 1500, which converts to just over 200 dollars. This was still cheaper compared to what you’d pay in New York for a meal like this.

Great place. Servings a little small but then that's how Michelin restaurants are I suppose. The artichoke and gnocchi were very good. The service was good. Nothing bad. Reserve in advance.

Great restaurant downtown. They have a good variety of tapas dishes to choose from. Portions are big enough to share between two people but small enough that you can try quite a few dishes. Our server was extremely sweet and answered all of our questions.
