El Cosmico is amazing. We spent 3 nights over Thanksgiving and loved it. Such a unique experience in a cool, remote location. We stayed in a safari tent and were able to get warm even on very cold nights. The front desk provides firewood for a communal bonfire at night. Hot outdoor showers with great water pressure, good coffee every morning in the lobby, dog friendly, friendly staff. We’ll definitely return!

We spent the extra money to get a climate controlled yurt.  The heating unit was broken.  We didn’t realize this until the office was already closed, late at night.  Electric blanket had been unplugged and not working.  We didn’t realize it was just unplugged.  When I went to the office in the morning , they stated the systems were complicated to use.  I asked why there were not instructions in the unit.  I then explained I did know how to use and an error appeared and unit would close.  I have photos.  She asked if I walked to office in the middle of the night to get the emergency number.  I stated no, it was freezing out and I didn’t want to get even more cold and I also didn’t know the number was on the door.  No recourse at all.  I paid for something I did not get.  Told me the only thing I could do was send an email.  On another experience.  We paid $90 to do the fire hot tub.  It was over 120’ when we got there.  Took them a long time to get it cooled down to safe temp.  Because they took all fire out they said they would check every 30-45 min to see how the water was.  They checked once and never came back.  I had to call the office to have someone come out to re kindle the fire, which they are supposed to check.  Overall, very disappointed in my first experience with the famous campground.  I grew up camping, so I understand expectations, and they dropped the ball. Plus, why are there only two luggage carts for so many units?

When we arrived at El Cosmico we were blown away by the super cool, hipster space. The energy was peaceful and inclusive and we felt right at home. When we stepped into our airstream the princess it was so hot, definitely felt like the Texas Sun was shining on it. The fridge wasn’t cooling but immediately they allowed us to move to a tent that was super chill both in temperature and amenities. We were always greeted with super chill staff who helped us with our journey to big bend. They also provided great tasting coffee in the morning that we enjoyed. The best part of El Cosmico is definitely the view of the Texas sky at night. Wow, the stars at night are BIG and Bright at El Cosmico. This was an experience we will never forget. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

I went into this stay with low expectations because as much as I pretend to be an easy-going free-spirited traveler, I tend to be a bit of a diva when it comes to comfort & cleanliness. I was pleasantly surprised with El Cosmico & would recommend a camper for anyone who enjoys something nice but a little bit quirky! I loved the outdoor shower! I would stay again on another trip to Marfa!
