What an incredible week I had with @therideside in Appi Kogen. We visited 3 different resorts, Appi Kogen, Hachimantai and Shizukuishi, was blessed with incredible pow, improved my riding ability, and above all did it with an amazing group of people, with laughter, smiles and the occasional tumble along the way.

Special thanks to @Alexhsuu for dreaming Ride Side to life, and to the @Micaelagoh @Chesterlum @Isakuishikawa for being the most gracious hosts in every way possible and leading me on the most challenging, heart pumping tree runs each afternoon.

If you're in to ride or ski with people who are genuine, warm and humble, this is what makes @therideside special, and I'd highly recommend it for you! Appi Kogen in particular was a very comfortable stay in a traditional japanese hotel with buffet breakfast and dinner.

Bear in mind that it's not a big outfit so there will be small issues like slower response times to emails etc, but the actual experience is worth so much more than these small niggles.

I had a blast with The Ride Side in both 2020 and recently in 2025!

My most recent experience with their intermediate camp in Aomori was unforgettable and will very likely be my highlight of 2025!

Pricing wise, you’re paying a premium. But the convenience, quality of accommodation, food at the hotel, quality of hosts, instructors and friends made the entire 1 week amazing! The hotel I stayed at even had an onsen, so we could soak every single day after a long cold day on the slopes.

Perfect for going alone, in groups or even as a couple!

I went for a hosted trip with The Ride Side in Myoko this season, and they brought us to 4 different resorts in the span of a week with various highlights; really nice tree runs, jumps and park so there’s something for everyone. It’s always a good time being hosted by experienced riders who know the terrain well and can bring you to off-piste areas you’d otherwise be wary of trying on your own, which in turn helps you to grow as a rider. And the community aspect of the trip is great too; always fun riding with fellow guests who are like-minded people passionate about the sport! (if you’re lucky maybe you could learn a ground trick or two)
Also really appreciated the effort put into finding good food and making restaurant reservations to ensure that we were well fed off the slopes! Despite not joining this particular trip with friends, the hosts made me feel very comfortable and many friends were made by the end of the week :)
Big shout out to the team for the great experience! In particular, Glen for being patient and offering advice navigating through tougher terrain. And can’t thank CJ enough for taking extremely good care of me when I got injured - literally wasn’t worried at all despite having a fracture because I knew I was in good hands. Good vibes all round :)

Been skiing around 12 yrs. Need proper techniques and correction badly in order to progress. Signed up the first ever ski intermediate camp in Aomori. Instructor - Kit. Super knowledgeable and on point with every single demo. Was surprised to know that there are so many skiers. Many of them missed this camp as it was fully booked very very quickly....
Finally found someone to ski/carve at similar speeds and we did several video runs! (Coach Hanwei!)

I also did 1 wk snowboard begineer camp. Awesome place to learn. Got pow pow = no pain pain. ... Skipped a day to ski at external resort...

Definitely learnt a lot and also had a ton of fun.
Highly reccomended for anyone who wants to level up and enjoy more of the mountain! Much more beyond the green/red/black...

First get physically fit... No babysitting once u r up! It is a physically demanding sport! I am 49 and can do it... So can u. Get off that couch!
Doing for grams only? No need to pay for class... Just get a tour guide.....

Joined the intermediate ski camp in aomori for week 9 of 2025, Hammy did a great job instructing and correcting us on how carve, technique to handle steeper slope and also how to handle powder snow. It was lucky that it was still dumping snow for our last 2 ski day this late in the season. Wish there were options with ski intermediate lesson earlier in the season so that there is higher chance of powder day so that we can have more training on how to handle powder snow and also have fun in it.
