This was probably the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to! And I have been to a lot of restaurants having been to 60 something countries and all seven continents. The service was great and the people were wonderful. They saw my fiancé and I struggling to take a selfie and came over to help us. This is one of the few places I would return to in New York City if I return.

Great piece of nostalgic New York. The servers were amazing. We did the tea service which is always a treat. The sandwiches however, seemed as though they were sitting out for a while, otherwise a great experience.

This restaurant I had been wanting to visit for a long time. I saw this restaurant make an appearance in the UK television series 'Absolutely Fabulous'. I decided to stop by for lunch, and wasn't disappointed. Incredible 'Proper old school New York society' vibe... cosy, ornate interior - a true dining experience. Food was great, as was the wine. The staff really made the experience - they showed interest in me, and enjoyed that I'd seen the restaurant in a tv show - and allowed me the time to explore, take photos and have the full experience. Passionate, customer-centric staff, and service.

Went with my mom and brother for a small afternoon snack. The service was incredible and the food was delicious overall (the best pierogis we’ve ever had!) I did find the chicken a little bit dry but otherwise everything was fantastic. The tea was unique and delicious and we really enjoyed the summer borscht. The decor was immaculate and took us back in time to an almost 1920s era of Hollywood glam. Be prepared to splurge on this delightful treat.

Over the top opulent décor. The most ostentatiously and lavish dining room my wife and I have ever set foot in. Might want to wear sunglasses to subdue the stunning surroundings (lol). It's fun to take it all in. The booths are fabulously comfortable and best of all, despite the décor, it is a sedate dining experience. My wife and I do not like loud and here the noise level is civilized. Your focus is on the food, not on the table next to you talking nonsense loudly. Staff is outgoing and service is faultless.

Surprisingly, at the time of this review RTR has a 3.9 star rating. It is much better than that, but I think I know the reason. Basically it depends on what time you go. Wife and I have eaten here a few times. The only time we have been disappointed is when there is an event at Carnegie Hall, which is next door, and it feels like the kitchen at RTR is overwhelmed. Get the food out no matter what. The food taste's like an assembly line dish as do the cocktails. Not bad, just mediocre. An example would be the time my wife had Vegetable Wellington, which was a thumbs down. Virtually tasteless. Same for the Sea Bass I had. Not terrible, but considering the price and previous dinners there it was very disappointing.  Super long wait to get seated as well even though we had reservations. Like a 1/2 hour wait. Other patrons were in the same boat. Lots of complaining and RTR was packed. On the positive the noise level was not annoying even though every table was taken and as always the service was impeccable. So the secret is....late lunch or early dinner.

Now the good. Our last dinner was an early one having made reservations for 4:30. A wonderful time and a great meal from start to finish. Not crowded and quite a few tables available. Appetizers where an RTR salad and RTR Borscht. Salad greens were fresh and the maple vinaigrette along with the goat cheese crumbles made for a perfect salad. My wife described the RTR Borscht as good as a friend's home made ( a recipe from "the old country" as in Eastern European) Borscht. High praise indeed. A beef pirozhoz was an accompaniment and was noted to be delicious. In the past we have also had Khinkali and Onion soup. Both were very satisfying. Main courses were Cotelette Kiev (chicken) and Potato Vareniki. The chicken was moist and tender with a wonderfully crisp and flavorful skin. The sauce was sublime and added just the right amount of pop to the dish. Fresh vegetables rounded out the dish. Delish and same for the Vareniki. Deserts, Blintzes and Crème Brulee, were very good. Although the Blintzes were satisfying the portion size was extremally disappointing. I'm almost never taken aback by portion size, but good lord two tiny Blintzes that would blow away if you sneezed. Would not order again. They were good, but not like they were the most shockingly good Blintzes that would justify their price. You've been warned. On the flip side definitely order the Banana Nalysnyky. Ten thousand thumbs up on that one.

Du skulle vara svårt - pressad att hitta en lyxigare, frodigare eller bättre inredda plats, även i den stora staden New York. Den livliga och fängslande omgivningen gjorde det nästan svårt att koncentrera sig på maten. 
Högsta betyg går till Servicen. Från det ögonblick vi kom in, var vi omhändertagna av ett väloljat team av ledarskap, servrar, bussar, etc. . varje fråga var respektfullt underhållen och ingen kunde ha varit mer artig. Verkligen var en njutning. 
Priserna är notoriskt lika extravaganta som inredningen, men eftersom vi inte åt på kaviaren eller high end champagne, blev vi inte alltför förolämpade. Även om måltiderna var vackert presenterade och serverade, var maten den minst imponerande delen av vårt äventyr. Ett av våra sällskap åt den Franska skålen som hon yrade om och generöst delade med sig av till en annans belåtenhet. Min dotter och jag åt biffsmörgåsar — medan köttet tillagades precis som önskat, och smaken var perfekt, var det grizzle i båda smörgåsarna, vilket gjorde bita och tugga lite svårare än väntat. Sidan av pommes frites har två tummar upp. 
Den härligt lätta och krämiga crème brûlée fångade vår upplevelse vackert.

Härlig lunch! Allt var mycket speciell från det ögonblick vi gick in och möttes av en söt värdinna tills det ögonblick vi lämnade. Fyra av oss hade mycket olika rätter och vi var alla nöjda: full "te", svamp stroganoff, sill sampler och blåbärspannkakor. Terätterna var rikligt för provtagning och delning. Servitören tog sin ton från oss, i vår vill ha en lugn måltid, och personalen var lämpligt uppmärksam och inte bråttom - y. Vi har verkligen haft vårt besök och jag kan även säga att det är en "missa inte" när du besöker NYC för en speciell måltid i en ikonisk restaurang - - det överträffade våra förväntningar.

Min son och hans gäst hälsade på idag för att fira sin 19-årsdag. Vi valde denna plats eftersom vi hade en fantastisk upplevelse på hans 13-årsdag tillbaka den 30 juli 2019 . Det besöket var minnesvärt på bästa sätt — vi satt på övervåningen i Bear Lounge, och servicen var utmärkt. 

Den här gången var dock en helt annan historia. Jag begärde uttryckligen att min son och hans gäst skulle sitta på övervåningen igen. Värden berättade för dem att Bear Lounge endast används för Thanksgiving och andra helgdagar — vilket helt enkelt inte är sant. Vi har varit där förut under NO speciella semester omständigheter, och satt på övervåningen utan problem. 

För att göra saken värre, IT är restaurangveckan — NO precis en högsäsong — så det fanns verkligen ingen anledning till att de inte kunde tillgodose en enkel begäran, särskilt för en födelsedagsfest. IT kändes avvisande i bästa fall och diskriminerande i värsta fall. Innebörden att min son och hans gäst inte förtjänade samma behandling som vi fick för flera år sedan var djupt upprörande. Oavsett om IT handlade om ras eller helt enkelt brist på omsorg, lämnade IT ett bestående negativt intryck. 

Tyvärr kommer vi inte tillbaka. Jag vägrar att spendera mina svarta dollar på ett ställe som får oss att känna oss ignorerade, ovälkomna eller ljugit för.

Jag tittade på andra recensioner och vi var uppriktigt sagt hade lite av en besvikelse läsa. Men! 
Otrolig upplevelse. Vi valde det kungliga high tea. 
Kaviar, fingermackor, bakverk. Löst bladte. Professionella servitörer och servitriser. Även en presentbutik på lägre nivå. Vägg dekorerad med antika testolpar. Röd inredning och målningar pryder väggarna. Maten var utmärkt. Ja var utmärkt. Detta var en bucket list punkt och gjorde ingen besviken.

Minnesvärd upplevelse. Konstverket på väggarna presenterades minutiöst via belysningen, och maten tillagades så konstfullt att den kompletterade inredningen och vice versa. Servicen var utsökt. Smaken på maten var utmärkt och inte alltför dyrt. Jag älskade sillflygningen, och biffen var precis lagad efter min smak, liksom laxen min man beställde.

Den ikoniska ryska Tea Room var en sporre i ögonblicket beslut och de gjorde ingen besviken. Jag är glutenfri - det fanns flera förrätter utöver glutenfritt bröd. Det fanns också en GF alternativ på high tea-menyn men vi valde den vanliga lunchen. 
Min havsabborre kokades till perfektion medan min mans nötkött (stroganoff) föll isär med en gaffel. Båda rätterna var mer än mättande och kryddade perfekt. 
Vi hade tur med ett tomt bord men reservationer rekommenderas starkt. 
Nästa resa till NYC Den ryska Tea Room är värt ett besök.

Detta är vad varje matupplevelse bör vara. Vacker atmosfär, professionell personal, känsla för detaljer. Bra mat och en minnesvärd upplevelse.

The Russian Tea Room är en ikonisk restaurang på West 57th Street på Manhattan intill Carnegie Hall. Utrymmet är helt vacker, med plysch sittplatser, ett tak täckt av guldblad och en imponerande samling konstverk på väggarna. Tjänsten är doting. Maten är utsökt. Min fru och jag delade den kungliga sibiriska osetrakaviaren, serverad med stil, och jag åt Stroganoff, som var rik och utsökt. Det är en dyr kväll ute, men för oss var det värt splurge.

Atmosfären är underbar. Servicen var bara OK även om servitrisen vi tittade på som tog hand om ett annat bord var utmärkt. Så det var tur med dragningen. Maten var bra. En New York ikon och upplevelse .

Bland flera exklusiva afternoon tea-ställen i New York är den på Russian Tea Room min favorit. Menyn var imponerande och så generös att jag lämnade med en stor låda godsaker som jag omöjligt kunde konsumera i en enda sittning. Servicen var effektiv och kompetent, och inredningen, konstverk och slående färger gjorde för stor atmosfär. 

Jag undrade innan mitt besök om det skulle finnas en klädkod på en så förnäm plats. Ingen anledning till oro! Två herrar satt med sina basebollkepsar på, och ytterligare två hade stickade hattar för att skydda sina känsliga skallar.
