Let me start off by saying that the fried ravioli is probably the best I have ever tasted. Their gravy is really good as well. Sandwiches are all named after Italian film and television show series characters all the way from The godfather, to The sopranos, to my cousin Vinny etc.. for what the sandwiches are, variations on Italian classics, eggplant parmesan, chicken parmesan, etc. they are in my opinion Ridiculously overpriced! And taste somewhat the same after a few. The rice pudding which I was told was superb, was lackluster and not creamy at all, very bland in fact. And after spending $50 plus dollars for two sandwiches, fried ravioli and a soda, I asked to try a small sample/spoon of the rice pudding to which I was told absolutely no but the kid at the register. I'm glad I didn't buy more to bring home given the disappointment the pudding was. All in all, in my humble opinion, this way out the way spot to get to, is not worth the trip. Going to your local Italian deli or pizzeria will definitely serve you better and will be much much lighter on your wallet.. but by all means, please don't listen to me, experience it for yourself.

The Italian deli is located in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn since 1968.  They prepare a wide variety of hot and cold heroes/sandwiches with different names.   Customers can also make their own hero by selecting from many different combinations.  I ordered the Tommy Devito named for the football quarterback.  It was a chicken cutlet with spinach/broccoli on a long hero bread.  The meatballs and riceballs were also very good.  I had the rice ball with a pistachio nut filling which was very good and different.  Friendly and quick service.   Food was packaged well for pickup by customers.

This is an old school deli in Brooklyn. I got the roast beef with brown gravy on a pretzel roll. It was good but next time I am going to get a regular roll. I think that would be better. The service quick with no line. The price was okay. The restaurant had an old school feel to it. I love old school delis that have been in the neighborhood for years.

The Johnny roast beef is insanely good. Shocked anyone could give it less than 5 stars if they tried it. It’s like a French dip au jus meets a cheese steak and it’s perfect. Less pretentious and juicier than the au jus with a thicker sauce and a little less cheesey than a cheesesteak, but with far superior onions.

To anyone who didn’t get this sandwich and gave less than 5 stars, go back, try it, fix your rating.

Såg en bloggare skriva om Johns deli så tänkte att vi skulle kolla in det. Det tog ganska lång tid att komma till från där vi var i Manhattan och är ett ganska bostadsområde, tror jag säkert nog men tänk på det. 

Nötköttet var av bra kvalitet, det var gott och det är en enorm portion. Det var bra men jag var inte wowd så skulle säga i allmänhet, förmodligen lite långt för den genomsnittliga turisten som gör resan till södra Brooklyn för. Servicen var bra och priserna ungefär genomsnittliga.

Som en typisk NY deli kan serveringsstorlekarna vara stora men med 3 olika storlekar är bra (roll, 9 'hero och 16' loaf).

John's Deli har ett brett utbud av varma och kalla smörgåsar. Det finns en speciell varje dag i veckan. Rostbiffen är min favorit, saftig med sås. Idag försökte jag räkor och calamari-parmesan. . . excellent.

Jag har blivit tillsagd att gå till hans obekväma deli av en polis som använder för att åka dit till lunch. "Bästa italienska rostbiffsandwich i Brooklyn". Han hade rätt. Bättre då Brennen och Carr på Nostrand aveny. Tunt skivat rostbiff med mörkrik brun jus smutsad med sautlök och mozzarellaost. Delar är enorma och kvaliteten är stor. Kommer inte att svika.

Andra gången jag'v varit här och det är värt de 45 minuters resa från NJ. Den rostbiff smörgåsar liknar några andra. Jag har en lök, Mozzarella och deras mest utsökta sås. Detta är den bästa rostbiff sandwich jag någonsin haft. Inte bara det men alla övriga alternativ, ris bollar, Mozzarella och Carrozza under med sina tomat såser är också utsökt. Om du är i området är det ett måste stoppa plats.

Kom in här nyligen när vi var i Brooklyn och det här stället var klass, ordentlig NYC deli, enorma utbud av smörgåsar och var helt uppstoppade från en jag hade. Min fru njöt av hennes och hennes vän var tvungna att ta hälften av hennes bort eftersom hon inte kunde avsluta det hela. Mycket vänlig personal, verkade vara en hel del av lokalbefolkningen komma in och ut på stället, som alltid är det bästa stödet. Normalt inte skulle skriv ett omdöme om ett ställe att få en smörgås men det var värt det. Tur jag inte bo i New York eller skulle jag vara dubbelt så stor jag är från att äta där hela tiden. Tack

Varma rostbiff med sås, kyckling parm. ,Etc.  Jag åt lunch här nästan varje dag i flera år och det aldrig besvikna. Lokala företag men folk kommer från hela världen att få rostbiff.

Alla deras mat är jättebra men det rostbiff och mozz är vägen att gå. Alltid färsk på plats.
Det tar några minuter för maten att komma ut men det är alltid värt det.

Varit på johns på Stillwell ave många gånger och hans Héros är bland de bästa i Brooklyn. Auberginen parm är tunna och god och rostbiff är riklig och med sås. Köttbullar är lika fräsch och utsökt. Alla priser är rimliga och lunch är vanligtvis under $10.00 . Kommer att komma tillbaka.
