Simple, comfortable, understated elegance with really cool raffia chairs. Felt like a fancier version of our old family dinners in the basement at nonna's. Staff was all wonderful! Super polite and attentive. Our waitress was wonderful. It felt like talking to a friend who'd give you their honest opinion instead of someone trying to add to your bill. She spoke clearly and gave explanations of the dishes. While we were waiting for our dessert, she came by to say goodnight since her shift was over and ensured us her coworker would take care of us. We asked if we should pay before she left, but she said thank you that's not necessary since they are 'family and share all tips at the end of the day'! I am 100% convinced this is why absolutely everyone who works here is so amazingly polite and always smiling. Ok. So food.. We started with a mixed bread basket and olive oil for dipping and mini veal arancini. I have never been one to like arancinis or veal for that matter, but these were the perfect size and tasted amazing. For appetizers, we had the veal meatballs (again, not my choice but not an overpowering veal taste, so I was pleased) and the fried zucchini and smoked mozzarella. I ordered the couscous and seafood dish that was a bit heavy on the fishy taste and a bit too oily (my boyfriend agreed and he's not a picky eater). He went with the cannelloni with pork. AMAZING!  Dessert was delizia del limone that he
wasn't overly impressed with, two kinds of biscotti, and our usual double espressos. I was a little surprised by the lack of options on the food menu. Oh! And one of the drinks was  pricier than some of the food.

We were bamboozled by the charming exterior, but do not be fooled. From the inside decor being more similar to a Midwest Ramada Inn conference room, to the odd service where you don’t have one waiter, but instead a ‘team’ of 8-10 different people waiting on you, but not the type of team you want, it’s more like the little league soccer team where no one knows what’s really going on, and it’s just very chaotic, to the food, that while not technically inedible, did nothing for the taste buds desires, especially at the price point, we continually thought we were being punked and someone was going to jump out with cameras and then take us to the actual delicious food our eyes had deceived us into believing existed based on the facade. Lesson Learned.. never judge a restaurant by its exterior.

I dined in Sunday evening and found the food and service to be unimpressive. It was not bad and it was not great.  Near the front door there was a portable heating device that was absolutely red hot but unlabeled and uncovered. I had on my Montcler jacket upon exiting the restaurant and it got absolutely burnt and ruined. The jacket was burnt because of negligence (placing it in a blind spot unmarked).

When I brought the issue to management’s attention the owner was unapologetic and uninterested in my issue. I was playing a game of telephone between the manager and owner because they would not exit the office to even talk to me face to face. I eventually got an estimate from a local store to repair the damage for $400. Ownership was not interested in helping out to pay, however they moved the furnace away from where it was originally.

I’m unimpressed and disappointed by how management comported itself, and I’m just happy it was only my jacket and not burned more seriously. I am also not posting anonymously because this is a 100% true and accurate complaint. Be weary of dining in if you have any issues.

Il Gattopardo (”Leoparden”) är gömd i en källare på West 54th, precis bakom MoMA. Fantastisk atmosfär, varm & Välkomnande Service, underbar mat. Menyn innehåller allt du förväntar dig av en traditionell äkta Italiensk restaurang - det finns inget knäppt eller trendigt, bara underbara färska Italienska rätter, tillagade med kärlek och skicklighet av människor som kan sitt hantverk. Beställ specialare. Du kommer inte att bli besviken.

Vi kom tidigt och satte oss i deras mysiga bar, bartendern var en härlig tjej som berättade om drinken hon just gjort. Jag älskar cocktails, så jag provade det. Blåbär blandat med mynta, vodka och några andra ingredienser var det uppfriskande och gott. Min mans vodka också bra. 

Vi satt vid ett trevligt bord. Linssoppa och tomat- och mozzarellasallad till start. Vi åt pasta båda två. Pappardelle med kanin och Paccheri pasta med långsamt kokt fläsk. Båda var mycket bra. Ricotta cheesecake till dessert mycket välsmakande också. Servicen var professionell och rummet mycket bekvämt. Bord inte för nära varandra med vita dukar. De har en trevlig uteplats men det var bara för varmt i augusti för att sitta där. Denna byggnad har mycket historia som går tillbaka till slutet av 1800-talet. 

Mitt enda klagomål var att det var en kvinna, som satt ganska långt från oss som var på sin mobiltelefon under en lång tid. Det var en annan kvinna som kom in, i löparshorts och löparskor som satt nära oss. Vi var på väg just då, men jag tyckte det var en besvikelse att de skulle sätta någon som inte var ordentligt klädd i denna matsal. Annat än dessa saker skulle jag starkt rekommendera denna restaurang och skulle ha gett dem 5 stjärnor i stället för 4 .

Överlägsen, uppmärksam Service med mycket bra erbjudanden. Besökte Il Gattopardo medan i Big Apple med familj. Maten var mycket bra men, enligt våra ödmjuka åsikter, föll inte till utmärkt. Låt mig förklara: när 4 av oss promenerade tillbaka till vårt hotell, var och en av oss sa Service & gästfrihet var exceptionell och att våra individuella rätter var alla mycket bra men på något sätt bara missade märket lite i smak. Vi åt på: Timballo Di Melanzane, Dagens linssoppa special, Crispy Salad, Dover Sole, Linguine alle Vongole och Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. Varje rätt var verkligen njutbar... men behövde lite av något annat för att driva dem över den kulinariska toppen. Skulle jag gå tillbaka? - Ja.

Detta var ett upprepat besök . Varje maträtt var helt fantastisk, servicen var oklanderlig, och en dämpad atmosfär var bara perfekt

Sammantaget var jag nöjd med min upplevelse. Servicen var toppen och restaurangen var pittoresk och mysig. Deras vinutbud är bra och deras meny varierad. Jag hade mozzarella och tomat förrätt - som tyvärr inte var imponerande för en 32 $ prislapp. Min huvudsakliga pastarätt var dock fantastisk.

Jag har gått förbi den här restaurangen så många gånger och aldrig haft möjlighet att gå, ikväll var kvällen. Vi var helt glada över att upptäcka en av de bästa italienska restaurangerna i New York. Mat, service och atmosfär... 5 ⭐️. 
Stort tack till hovmästaren för att tillmötesgå våra speciella behov. Eftersom det var julafton hade de en speciell meny men man kunde också beställa från den vanliga menyn. Jag hade osso buco som var utmärkt. Min dotter åt en enkel pasta med tomatbasilikasås. Det må vara enkelt, men IMO det är en barometer av en bra italiensk restaurang. Hon älskade det. Avslutade med en härlig äppelkaka. Vår server var utmärkt och föreslog en underbar flaska vin till ett rimligt pris.

Jag hittar inte datumet för det var flera år sen. Men denna restaurang har förblivit fast placerad som den bästa måltiden vi hade för flera år sedan i NYC. Det var storslaget. Vi frågade för alla kocken rekommenderade. Jag är så glad att äntligen ha kommit ihåg namnet och hittat dig igen. Jag hoppas att vi en dag kan åka tillbaka. Servicen var utmärkt. Vid den tiden var vi de enda icke italienska / sicilianska gäster. Den är undangömd som ett minne att ta fram och njuta av. Tack så mycket.

Detta är en bra “speciellt tillfälle” restaurang, även om det är i en källare. Servicen är utsökt; Det kompletterande brödet & arrancini var mycket trevligt. Jag är säker på att det finns bättre och billigare italiensk mat i området, dock.

Vi hade en fantastisk middag på en söndag kväll i NYC. Vår servitör Miquel var professionell, kunnig och vänlig. Den gav oss en lamm och risboll som en gratis förrätt och det var fantastiskt. Brödet var fantastiskt också. Jag åt den speciella förrätten - skaldjurssallad över grönt - wow kan ha varit den bästa kalamarin jag någonsin ätit - alla skaldjur var färska och goda. Min fru hade den speciella lasagnen och jag hade fusilli - båda var utmärkta och perfekt förberedda. Vinutbudet vid glaset var lite begränsat men vi bad om rekommendationer och var nöjda med vinerna som föreslogs. Vi hade gärna stannat på efterrätt men vi var tvungna att träffa våra döttrar som var på konsert på MSG. Vi kommer definitivt tillbaka med våra döttrar - vi fick reda på att de erbjuder GF pasta och skaldjur urval och det är ett stort plus eftersom en av våra döttrar är GF. De har också 2 andra platser - Mozzarella & Vino och Leoparden på des Artistes i NYC.
