Newer spot from the folks who own Claud. The food was exceptional - I think I’ve tried the whole menu. Would highly recommend the ice box, dressed razor clams, definitely the brioche w/ anchovies and the lobster. The ice cream sandwich is also excellent.

IMPORTANT to note quite a few dishes sell out quickly. My dinner reservation was around 8:00 and three of the six dishes we ordered were sold out. The manager explained this was intentional and didn’t have a great attitude about it. However our server helped us make another earlier reservation for the next week and when we returned, the manager was quick to tell us they were on their last lobster (and was very kind about it).

Phenomenal food, service, and space. Not quite as good/interesting as Claud, but that’s a high bar.

The stuffed squid and lobster were especially good. Will have to go back to taste the rest of the menu, but everything I had this time around was amazing. Only warning is that since the menu is entirely seafood with no filler (other than the bread), you may have to order a fair amount if you want to be full (I was after the shrimp cocktail, stuffed squid, sesame brioche & lobster).

Everyone here is dressier than your Bible-thumping grandma on Good Friday, but don't let that visual snobbery deter you from a satisfying seafood experience here.

First, be prepared to spend. This is Manhattan seafood, after all--you're going to pay for quality.

With that out of the way, start your meal with the Sesame Brioche + Butter + Anchovies. The bread with melt in your mouth, and the anchovy spread is creamy, briny goodness.

Next, splurge and get the Ice Box PLUS--you'll get more portions and more diverse offerings. We gorged on periwinkles (a pain to dig out, but satisfyingly chewy), tender lobster and shots of vichyssoise in addition to the raw items included with all Ice Boxes.

The Dressed Razor Clams were wonderfully seasoned, and the Confit Oysters were perfectly cooked. However, my favorite dish (aside from the raw seafood) was probably the Trout + Lovage. Not everyone can cook trout properly--this was tender and flaky and accompanied by a fantastic sauce.

Look, I'm running out of adjectives and my keyboard is getting covered in drool remembering our meal here. Just come. Spend like it's the apocalypse. Worry about the consequences later.

The only complaint is that resys are hard to get unless you dine at 5pm. The food is five-star on both taste and presentation. Service is quick but not rushed. The little lamps on the table really add great ambience and make the food look like pieces of art. Our favorites were the brioche and stuffed squid. We opted for the less popular chocolate mousse for dessert which was also very good. Salty chocolate paired well with the big hazelnut chunks. Will be back again!

Just WOW!!

My husband and I walked in for dinner last night as we live around the corner. Had to wait a bit but were sat relatively quickly. The vibe of the place is so cool, kind of like the bar seating at Lartusi but that is the only sitting at Penny. The wine list was incredible, the white wine from Portugal was absolutely insane.

Food - 1000/10 if you love fresh seafood. Portions are small and it is expensive, but in our opinion was worth it. We shared the brioche (MUST! I could bathe in the salted butter), the ice box plus (sooooo good, we loved everything especially the lobster and shrimp cocktail), the confit oysters, tuna carpaccio - excellent all around. We found this was the perfect amount of food, and will be returning for the ice cream sandwich that looked amazing.

Just suuuuchhhh like a truly sexy date night spot but also very chill at the same time. Service was great too

Först och främst var Samara bara en utmärkt servitris som gav oss bra idéer och förklaringar och så personlig hela natten, och sedan maten, varje rätt var så kreativ, fräsch och så smakrik - underbara kombinationer inom varje rätt - ansjovis i smöret för det mjukaste brödet du någonsin kommer att smaka, kycklingbuljong för vackra, fylliga ostron, escabeche sashimi i en delikat vinägrettsås med bitar av makrill och slutligen en perfekt storlek och förberedd söt Maine hummer i en salvia / rosmarin / brun smörsås, allt vid en elegant granit bänkskiva på mjuka vadderade barstolar med gott om avskildhet mellan parterna. Allt som allt de bästa fisk- och skaldjurskombinationer vi ätit på länge, länge.

Penny är en nyöppnad rawbar från teamet bakom Claud, och den är lika bra som deras första restaurang. Jag har varit två gånger sedan den öppnade tidigare i år och varje gång var utmärkt. 

Ice Box/Ice Box Plus är ett måste. Varje tugga är extremt fräsch och smakrik, ingen fiskighet alls. Jag hade inte haft periwinkles förut och njöt av att äta dem, ingen grittiness där. Rakmusslorna och räkcocktailen är också underbara. Vinlistan är väl upplagd och har mycket champagne, och det finns gott om plock under $ 100. 

Varje sittplats är på en lång bar som sträcker sig över hela restaurangen. Barstolarna är otroligt plyschiga och bekväma. På grund av layouten skulle jag rekommendera att bara gå med en eller två andra personer. De flesta platser är reserverade för promenad - ins.
