Food was delicious and well prepared. Both the prime rib and the lobster tail were excellent.

Dessert was perfect. The carrot cake was amazing with a good balance between the spice and sweetness of the ingredients.

Portions were very large! Could easily have shared the sides with another.

Our server was very attentive. He provided top notch service during my visit.

Smith & Wollensky holds sentimental value for me, as my parents used to come here as a special treat before I was born. It was truly meaningful to share this experience with my mom. Despite a delayed flight to NYC, the staff graciously accommodated us by pushing back our reservation on a busy Thursday night.

We initially had reservations for the patio and were a bit hesitant because of the cold, windy weather. However, it turned out to be warm and much quieter than the lively indoor dining area, making for a comfortable and pleasant setting.

We started with the Caesar salad and oysters—both excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection, living up to the restaurant’s reputation. While we’d probably skip the mac and cheese next time (a different pasta, like cavatappi, might elevate it), the mushrooms were fantastic, and the cheesecake was the perfect finish to our meal.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience at a classic New York steakhouse. 🥩❤️

(Last visited 12/30/2022.) Hanging out in New York City to celebrate bringing in the new year and it's dinner time on the night before New Year's Eve! While searching through the bookmarks on my Yelp app I came across Smith & Wollensky. I had it bookmarked for a reason, right? So I checked out the menu and came across this thing called "Weekend Wine Dinner". I like wine. My wife likes wine, so I checked it out. I'll discuss it more below...

Atmosphere/Appearance: Located in Midtown 3rd Avenue and 49th Street is this gem. It's been here since 1977 and is a staple in the city. The inside is pretty straightforward. It's a steakhouse with dim, intimate lighting, staff wearing cream blazers and ties with lots of bright woods decorating the interior. It was a bit loud in here, but it's New York City on a weekend, get over it. Lol. I loved the atmosphere in here and it just felt so lively, full of energy.

Service: Things moved a bit slow, but we were told someone was out sick so we just chilled out. Besides that, everything went smoothly.

Food: Alright, the "Weekend Wine Dinner" is some S & W offers Thursday through Saturday after 8:00pm. For $95.00 per person, you are able to get an appetizer, entree, dessert and "copious" amounts of wine. (Practically unlimited.) We didn't get cut off, but boy we had SO MANY GLASSES. You can rotate between 4 choices which were "Pasqua Prosecco" from Veneto, Italy. Smith & Wollensky's own Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma, CA. Moulin de Gassaacv 'Guihelm' Rosé from Languedoc, France and The Seeker Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, Argentina. For our appetizers we checked out the shrimp cocktail and the Maryland style crab cake, but there were 10 to choose from if those aren't your fancy. The shrimp were huge and cooked excellently. I wish the cocktail sauce had more horseradish in it, but eh. The crab cake was HUGE, fluffy, fresh, flavorful and delicious. I was very impressed. For our entrees we of course chose the classic filet mignon, but you can get it topped in various ways for no extra charge! It was cooked PERFECTLY, was tender, juicy, thick and just really blew me away for the value. We chose broccoli and asparagus as our sides to try being healthier. Nothing to report there. For dessert we had sorbet or something, again, to try being healthy. Lol. I loved this whole idea.

Value: I mean, C'MON! $95.00 per person for the app, that huge filet with sides, the dessert and the copious amounts of wine is just INCREDIBLE! I want to get back here soon to freaking do this again!

In conclusion, I loved this place and I feel like a Weekend Wine Dinner is the only way I'll be able to eat here. Lol. I've been spoiled by it and hope to get back here soon!

This is a classic New York steakhouse experience. The standout dish was the Classic Prime Rib with Potato Gratin. The prime rib was perfection; thick, juicy, and tender. This was beautifully complemented by a zesty horseradish sauce. The potato gratin was rich, cheesy, and irresistibly smooth. While the porterhouse for two and the creamed spinach were enjoyable, they didn’t quite steal the show.

Super tender and delicious steak. I especially loved the Cajun and my mouth still waters thinking about it.

Jag klev in på en solomiddag och ville ha en biff. Servicen var klockren på svarstiden för ölbeställningen, verkade som om det bara var sekunder. Även om det är en liten restaurang, det hade gott om utrymme för ingenting små och större grupper. 

Det slutade med att jag beställde en filet med bakad potatis. Den tillagades perfekt till min uttalade preferens, och potatisen var enorm. Filén var god, men jag kan inte säga att den var bra.

Aldrig har jag haft en värre filet mignon. Jag tror inte ens att det var en filet - det var ungefär en tum tjock och 4 inches runt. Och spetsad med fett. Vi bad om au poivre-sås och en gelatinös massa brunt ämne ploppades på bordet. S&W är ett en gång i tiden stekhus och vänder sig nu till turistpubliken, som de hoppas är charmerad av de sursinta servitörerna och dess historia. När vi lämnade, det fanns en grupp herrar med värden som frågade oss om vi ville ha en taxi. Vi trodde att de skulle anropa en taxi åt oss. Istället tog de runt en bil och ville ha $ 55 för en $ 20 resa. De hoppades att vi inte visste bättre. Det finns gott om steakhouses i NYC. Gå till dem istället för den här fejkaren.

Vi tog med en av våra stora kunder ut på middag på torsdag 4/10 i midtown; hade en grupp på 7 och vi hade tur och fick faktiskt det privata rummet på baksidan som tittar in i köket. Maten var fantastisk som alltid (vi har varit på flera S&W platser runt om i USA) - men vad som skiljer detta från vår server - Brad. Hands down var den BÄSTA servitören jag någonsin haft på 20 år av underhållande kunder på exklusiva restauranger runt om i länet. Det som stack ut var den uppmärksamhet på detaljer som Brad visade. Exempel: vi bad honom att ta ett foto... men till skillnad från alla andra gånger som folk ber en server att ta ett foto (hundratals gånger per månad där skulle jag misstänka) hade Brad helt klart tagit sig tid att lära sig hur varje telefons operativsystem/kamera fungerade bäst. 5 vs standard. . . . allt utan att bli tillfrågad. . . han dirigerade alla på varje aspekt av bilden, hade flera bilder tagna i förmodligen 45 sekunder, och de var alla fantastiska. Återigen... den här killens jobb är att vara en SERVITÖR, men han hade helt klart tagit sig tid och initiativ att lära sig att bemästra att ta bilder som ett proffs... som han erkände var en del av den totala matupplevelsen. Detta är bara ett av flera exempel jag noterade med Brad från den kvällen. 
Vi har varit på Smith & Wollensky mer än ett dussin gånger på olika platser runt om i landet: biffar var precis lika fantastiska som någon annan S&W plats, drycker var precis lika på punkt som någon annan S&W plats... men detta var den bästa måltiden vi någonsin haft på någon av dem. Skillnaden var, med ett ord: Brad. 
Ibland är det de små sakerna som kan göra det stora så minnesvärt!

sen satt hon flera personer framför mig utan anledning och berättade för mig att just mitt bord betalade, råkade vara bord i princip i köket (värst i huset) dussintals fina öppna bord när vi kom och åkte 

till slut satte sig vid 750 efter att ha frågat igen vid sämsta bord i huset med dussintals öppna bord 

Jag var tvungen att be om att flytta fortfarande skulle inte ge mig ett trevligt bord som säger att de är för fler människor tho nästan alla gad två sitter vid dem 

beställde biff medium plus kom underkokt bad om att kokas mer men de gjorde inte 

jag menar 😪 på mina barn vara dag 

livet är för sort för att hantera sådan oförskämdhet och hemsk service! ! och att tro att jag tappat 6 siffror där under de senaste 30 åren . . wow

SLUTET PÅ EN ERA — Från den tid då Smith och Wollensky tog över hörnet av 49 Street, har vi gjort det vår gå på middag för English Cut Roast Beef. Tyvärr åt vi vår sista måltid där igår kväll. Det som brukade vara en läcker , saftig och mycket mör köttbit har förvandlats till en bit tufft och grovt mjöl som bara en björn skulle gräva i. När jag skickade tillbaka den till köket kom servitören tillbaka för att berätta för mig att ett annat snitt skulle vara detsamma och det var det verkligen. Ja det finns många andra val men även den älskade Blue Cheese salladskilen, saknades i gissa vad BLUE CHEESE! Detta var en plats där våra vänner skulle ansluta sig till oss och räknas med för en riktigt speciell middag, INTE LÄNGRE!

Vi åkte till Smith & Wollensky på min mans födelsedag eftersom han ville ha Prime Rib. Han tyckte det var väldigt bra. Jag beställde dock tonfisktartar till middag. När jag smakade det upptäckte jag att det hade en rolig, tomatig smak. Jag frågade servern om det fanns tomat i beredningen och han sa nej, det var bara tonfisk. Jag var säker på att jag hittat en bit tomat så jag bad honom kolla med kocken. Han kom tillbaka och rapporterade fåraktigt att det faktiskt fanns tomat i skålen. Jag blev bestört över att en restaurang som denna skulle använda ett billigt fyllmedel vid tillagningen av rätten. Han gav mig en annan portion “utan tomat” men jag hade en dålig “smak” i munnen och kunde inte njuta av det. Restaurangen är dyr och det finns ingen ursäkt för denna typ av beteende.

Vi har gått till Smith & Wollensky i 20 år plus, men jag känner mig tvungen att skriva en recension efter vår senaste erfarenhet. När vi satte oss ner såg vi två öppna flaskor med flaskvatten, en fortfarande, en kolsyrad. När vi nämnde för servern att vi föredrar kranvatten svarade han: "Det är lättare för mig att servera från flaskorna. " Vi upprepade att vi ville ha kranvatten och han gick motvilligt för att hämta det. Vi hade ett runt bord i ett hörn, men personen som satt på utsidan fick stötar varje gång vagnen kom ut med mat för ett bord. Ljudnivån är så hög att du knappt kan höra personen bredvid dig, än mindre de som sitter mittemot dig. Caesarsalladen höll på att drunkna i smaklös dressing och klyftsalladen var densamma. Köttet vi beställde var okej, men återigen inte bra och au poivre saknade smak. En person beställde doversulan som var överkokt och torkade ut. Inte värt den stora prislappen. Meunièresåsen som följde med på sidan hade en bas av majonnäs och liknade inte en riktig meunièresås. Servern var inte uppmärksam även trots att vi beställde två dyra flaskor vin. Sammantaget en enorm besvikelse och kommer inte tillbaka.

Besökte denna ikoniska restaurang med 4 . Vänlig personal. Tre av oss hade filet mignon (smakade mycket gott) , benet - i revbensstek såg gråaktigt ut och verkade vara ”kokt” i mikrovågen. Sidorna är OK men inte mycket speciell. Al i allt: inte den bästa i stan.

(Senast besökt 12 / 30 / 2022 . ) Hänger i New York City för att fira att man tar in det nya året och det är middagsdags på kvällen innan nyårsafton! När jag letade igenom bokmärkena på min Yelp-app stötte jag på Smith & Wollensky. Jag fick det bokmärkt av en anledning, eller hur? Så jag kollade in menyn och stötte på en sak som heter "Weekend Wine Dinner". Jag gillar vin. Min fru gillar vin, så jag kollade upp det. Jag ska diskutera det mer nedan. . . 

Atmosfär/utseende: Beläget i Midtown 3 rd Avenue och 49th Street är denna pärla. Det har funnits här sedan 1977 och är en stapelvara i staden. Insidan är ganska okomplicerad. Det är ett stekhus med svag, intim belysning, personal som bär gräddblazrar och slipsar med massor av ljusa träslag som dekorerar interiören. Det var lite högljutt här inne, men det är New York på en helg, kom över det. Lol. Jag älskade atmosfären här inne och det kändes så livligt, fullt av energi. 

Service: Saker och ting gick lite långsamt, men vi fick höra att någon var sjuk så vi bara chillade. Dessutom gick allt smidigt. 

Mat: Okej, "Helgvinsmiddagen" är några S&W-erbjudanden torsdag till lördag efter 8: 00 pm. För 95 dollar. 00 per person, kan du få en förrätt, förrätt, dessert och "kopiösa" mängder vin. (Praktiskt taget obegränsat. ) Vi blev inte avskurna, men vi hade SÅ MÅNGA GLASÖGON. Du kan rotera mellan 4 val som var "Pasqua Prosecco" från Veneto, Italien. Smith & Wollenskys egen Sauvignon Blanc från Sonoma, CA. Moulin de Gassaacv 'Guihelm' Rosé från Languedoc, Frankrike och Sökaren Cabernet Sauvignon från Mendoza, Argentina. Till våra aptitretare kollade vi in räkcocktailen och krabbtårtan i Maryland-stil, men det fanns 10 att välja mellan om de inte är dina tjusiga. Räkorna var enorma och tillagade utmärkt. Jag önskar att cocktailsåsen hade mer pepparrot i sig, men eh. Krabbkakan var ENORM, fluffig, fräsch, smakrik och utsökt. Jag blev mycket imponerad. Till våra förrätter valde vi självklart den klassiska filet mignon, men du kan få den toppad på olika sätt utan extra kostnad! Den var perfekt tillagad, var mör, saftig, tjock och bara verkligen blåste bort mig för värdet. Vi valde broccoli och sparris som våra sidor för att försöka vara friskare. Inget att rapportera där. Till efterrätt åt vi sorbet eller något, igen, för att försöka vara friska. Lol. Jag älskade hela den här idén. 

Värde: Kom igen, 95 dollar! 00 per person för appen, den enorma fileten med tillbehör, desserten och de kopiösa mängderna vin är helt OTROLIGT! Jag vill komma tillbaka snart för att göra det här igen! 

Sammanfattningsvis älskade jag det här stället och jag känner att en helg vin middag är det enda sättet jag kommer att kunna äta här. Lol. Jag har blivit bortskämd av det och hoppas att komma tillbaka hit snart!

Vi har haft juldagen lunch på denna förstklassiga steak house restaurang. Detta var mitt andra besök men min son och frus första besök. Servicen och välkomnandet var så bra från den andra vi steg in i anläggningen. Atmosfären är avkopplande men det finns en underton av kvalitet och dekadens. Tre medarbetare checkade in hos oss under måltiden. Personalen är oklanderligt klädd. Omfattande vinlista som passar en mängd olika budgetar. Revbensspjället Cajun rub biff var exceptionellt, liksom New York strip. Sidor av Mac och ost och sauterad potatis var vackert gjort och rikt. Som du förväntar dig super size biffar och portioner att gå dit känner sig tom! Avslutade med chokladkaka och morotskaka (delas mellan oss tre). Erbjöd en gratis drink i slutet av måltiden som var en trevlig touch. Underbar juldagen måltid som var mycket speciell. Tack så mycket.

Jag hade en obehaglig upplevelse. Jag lämnade 20 dollar i dricks på en 200-dollarssedel och ansåg att det var en rimlig summa. Servitören kom dock tillbaka till mitt bord, påpekade att dricksen i USA förväntas vara minst 20 %, och ringade in den rekommenderade dricksdelen på kvittot, vilket indikerar att jag borde fylla i en större mängd i dricksdelen, med en respektlös attityd. 
Han ville pressa mig att lämna en större dricks, vilket är mycket oproffsigt och fick mig att känna mig väldigt obekväm. 

Jag rekommenderar inte denna restaurang på grund av denna erfarenhet, som helt förstörde vad som kunde ha varit en trevlig måltid.
