La Colazione Perfetta — Coffee and something sweet

 is the closest thing Naples has to a pastry pilgrimage site. The sfogliatelle — both the flaky 

 — are made fresh all day and considered by many to be the city's absolute best. There's a numbered ticket system (take one at the door), a short queue well worth joining, and zero pretension. No coffee on-site, but the street bars nearby are more than happy to help.

is a modern all-day café representing a new wave of Neapolitan coffee culture — one that respects tradition while embracing what's happening globally. The 

 has become a sensation, and the pistachio cruffin (croissant-muffin hybrid, stuffed to perfection) sells out early. Opens at 7am. Bright, welcoming and consistently excellent.

 sits right in the UNESCO-listed historic centre, and the atmosphere shows it. The espresso is excellent, and the pistachio croissant — warm from the oven, with liquid cream running as you bite in — has an almost cult following among regulars. Staff take time to guide visitors through the pastry case. One of those places that becomes an unplanned daily stop.

La Nuova Torrefazione — Third-wave Naples

 is the crown jewel of Naples' specialty coffee scene — a true microroastery where beans are roasted on-site and baristas treat every cup as a craft project. Their focus on 

 single origin is almost unheard of in a field dominated by Arabica, and the result is a deeply complex, full-bodied espresso unlike anything else in the city. The filter coffee is outstanding, and freshly roasted beans are available to take home.

 is a hidden gem in the quieter Vomero district, run by the passionate Vincenzo who can talk about coffee for hours — and will, if you let him. The bean selection reads like a specialty coffee wish list: Artigianale roasts alongside seasonal ONYX lots from the US. One reviewer called it the location of their "2nd and 3rd best coffees ever" on consecutive days. Closes at 5pm, so plan accordingly.

 is down a narrow alley near Teatro Nuovo — one of those places you walk past once and remember forever. Street art covers every surface, the espresso is electric, and the house 

 — espresso with milk foam and cacao powder — is a genuine discovery. The sfogliatelle are ridiculously good. Closed Tuesdays and hours can vary, so showing up is part of the charm.

Il Vicolo Segreto — Bars you won't find without looking

 sits on Naples' famous book-lined street near Piazza Dante and does everything well — iced coffee that's actually iced coffee, cinnamon rolls worth crossing the city for, and house cocktails that pull in the evening crowd. The vibe shifts naturally from morning café to late-night bar without missing a beat. One of the most enjoyable places to simply
