Walked around looking for a place for lunch. Stumbled upon this gem. Loved the interior at first sight and the brightness from the skylight it just feels so inviting when you walk in. The server was still setting up but was very nice to welcome us, seat us and let us order. She was very informative describing the menu items.

I ordered the fried chicken. Presentation was as beautiful as the interior and it tasted delicious as well. Our server was super friendly. I would come back again for sure.

Since our favourite safe goto restaurant closed “Public Space” we have been looking to a replacement ,  maybe we have found it.

We visited Bennie’s , in the south west of Amsterdam area of Schinkeldistrict recently opened earlier this year .  Industrial area close to Olympic stadium nice ride , almost the last days of summer and we sat in the terrace,  industrial conversion inside but tasteful .

Chef goes for simple but good food, which it was.

We had the lunch menu roasted beetroot😋, pâté en croûte with a little gem. Super delicious. For mains we took the ravioli and  fried chicken very very good - cooked perfectly and very , very tasty.

Dessert was the cheese cake - really wow, very well done, not sweet.

We will be back for dinner. 😀

i don’t understand the hype of this place or we were just very unlucky. the food was kinda mid, wasnt bad but wasnt impressive. overall it was overpriced considering the embarrassingly small portion and the quality: the fried chicken was overly burnt and the batter was very hard so the meat inside was very dry; the grilled bimis (which i did not take a photo of) where also overcooked that they were so black.  the star of the show was the cherry cheese cake: it was only salty 😂 we were so shocked i thought they had mistakenly put salt instead of sugar. when we told the waitress as a feedback she replied “oh really, you guys were the first ones that say that, but i will tell the kitchen” …. 😂 so that brings me to the last point, the service was meh. they were not rude but so inattentive, were not helpful with the feedback and pushing responsibilities to each other to serve our table.

the location is not the best but the vibe and the interior was nice, but for the experience we had we will not come back.

will start with the positives, the cocktails and wine list were pretty good, the starter prawn toast was delicious! The rest of the food was kind of mid.
The biggest negative would be the entrecôte. It was €55 for 500g, but probably 300g of the steak was all fat. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the steak was €30, but for €55 I expect much better. I felt like the steak would’ve cost around €9 if I bought it in AH or at a butcher.
I felt like the service was ok, they weren’t so attentive and seemed like they were giving better service to Dutch speaking guests, which is quite normal for these hyped restaurants in Amsterdam so I don’t know why I expected any different.
I met with some friends after and they asked me whether they should go, I said maybe but just don’t order the steak.

Super delicious bagel and the service was super nice as well. The filling was thick and tasty, one of the best bagels I ever had. The area is such a cute neighbourhood, definitely worth a try!

Bagel Boy was amazing!! It was on my list of places to try and it did not disappoint. I had the avo smash on sesame bagel and it was so good. Cannot wait to go back and try some other options. Definitely add this to your list if your visiting Amsterdam!

This place is more focused on how to portray the business rather than the actual product/food. If you’re looking for a good bagel there are better places. Just a marketing company, instead of an actual story on their product in which you can tell by the taste. Tastes like those store-bought frozen/defrost bagels(*rolls). Expensive for what you get. But hey, some are just in it for the hype, but steer away if you’re looking for proper flavour.

Nice small place with amazing bagels. Only negative thing is they juice is only an orange juice for 4.50 which is not fresh bit from a box. Put some effort in that, since having an amazing bagel with a boxed juice is making it less of an experience. A simple place but nothing special
