Changdeokgung Palace is one of the most impressive palaces in Seoul. It beautifully combines traditional architecture with a stunning garden landscape, creating a serene and majestic atmosphere. The absolute highlight was the secret garden, Huwon, a peaceful oasis filled with nature and historical charm. Since I visited on Culture Day, admission was free, making the experience even more special. A truly unforgettable place that should not be missed!

Big traditional palace. The area is so big and have many buildings.  To get in, you have to purchase the ticket or it's free if you wear hanbok ( traditional clothes) that you can rent around the area.
You can follow the tour to the secret garden, buy the ticket online or by the gate.

One of the advantages of visiting Seoul during the Wintertime is that you get to take great pictures without having crowds of people ruining your snapshots. The tradeoff is that you don't get to see the beautifulness of the full bloom of the trees and flowers.
This palace again fell short of my expectations. Needs more TLC.

A much smaller palace than the more popular  Gyeonbokgung but that doesn’t not discount its charm, and I in fact preferred this instead. You will see similar palace buildings and designs but this is less crowded, less rushed and more serene. There is a slight elevation so you get a higher view in some places, but some areas like the Secret Garden required additional cost/ticket to enter. The lake towards the greenhouse was frozen during Dec/Jan and it was beautifully quiet and peaceful. The greenhouse kept a good variety of delicate plants, eg bonsai, which was a nice escape from the cold and period buildings. Overall, this is highly recommended if you have time and want to slow down in Seoul.
