We very thoroughly enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu tailored for vegetarians and I think Ego is a must-visit in Matera. It’s fine dining that is fresh, unexpected, unfussy yet delicious and refined. Chef Nicola is clever with great twists on local cuisine in a modern and sleek environment. Each dish, from our welcome to dessert was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and creative in its adaptation. Beautiful food, and an exciting and fun dining experience. Definitely Michelin star territory.

Really nice restaurant and really interesting flavours. Great innovation by the chef and the service lived up to its Michelin recommendation. We went for the set menu and really enjoyed it.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is not only creative and surprising but also extremely delicious. An amazing value for money. Kudos to the chef! We were very impressed.

I’ve ate at many Michelin star restaurants in various countries. The deserve a star for sure. Very creative presentations, the food was amazing, and the service was exactly how we liked. I highly recommend…as for the bad reviews, I would take them with a grain of salt, as many people have tampered expectations and attitudes.

Reservation is mandatory. We visited Ego after a long day in Matera and what a perfect ending of the day. We opted for the Contrast menu which had seven sets. Each step was adding more and more flavor in variety of textures and colors. The Cheff philosophy is well presented in all dishes. Watermelon 🍉 scallops , deer Raviolini and the Veal where absolutely amazing.  I would recommend visiting before it takes a Michelin ⭐️ which it definitely deserves.
