My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement here on our recent trip to Italy and it was the best meal we had on our entire trip! Everything was amazing from the food to the service. We are so happy we decided to celebrate such a special time here as we were treated like royalty from beginning to end. This is a truly unforgettable experience that we will cherish forever!

We had a lot of expectations here, one michelin inside the $3,000 per night Four Seasons Resort. Overall service and food were ok. But what was unforgiven was the hair on my Wellington. The server saw it try to pull it out and without success served it to me anyway(photo attached).

We were staying at the San Dominico Palace and therefore decided to try their flagship restaurant on our final evening.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing, being to one star Michelin restaurant, we did have certain expectations .

First of all, I was surprised at we had to choose exact same courses for our degustation menu (not just the number of courses)

The signature etna pasta was starchy and should be replaced…..   the black crumbs resembling volcano ashes and 5 kinds of tomato sauce was not very enticing….  What happened to the great seafood that you have around you?

Main course… piglet,  was a cube of fatty pork, probably slow cooked with soggy and sticky skin and all the fat remaining in place so the course was actually…. Not very edible.   Deep fry the skin?   Oven roast the pork to get the fat reduced?

Cheese was great and so was the wine.

Overall I expected much more being a one starred Michelin restaurant.  To be honest, the weakest link of the stay to such a great hotel in Taormina….

DINNER Dinner was wonderful, a beautiful experience from beginning to end! The restaurant is lovely, the service is fantastic (Matteo is amazing, very knowledgeable and charming!), and the food is delicious! We enjoyed everything, including the wine pairings. And the view is gorgeous.

BREAKFAST The PC team is excellent, the service is perfection. They do an amazing buffet (beautiful presentation) with delicious a la carte options. Denise (the best!), Elania, Alberto, Adriano, Victoria, Vera, and Dorothea are superstars!

Dinner last night was unfortunately quite underwhelming. We chose the 4 course degustation menu and looked forward to what was to come. The flavours, detail and creativity of a Michelin rated one star restaurant was just not there when compared to other Michelin rated dining experiences. The food ranged from average - good but never great, the service was attentive but varied significantly across three servers with one being particularly cold and disinterested, a smile or even a greeting was out of the question!

The biggest disappointment was the timing and temperature of the meal, with the initial courses being very slow to then shifting to express service with a course leaving the table to then being immediately replaced with the next course. This appears to be a kitchen issue and significantly impacted the quality and overall experience.
