The highlight of our Grand Palace visit. An extensive collection of beautiful clothing displaying both traditional and modern fabrics. The information regarding the Royal Family and Court life is very interesting and helpful. Lovely gift shop. Helpful and welcoming staff. No photography allowed of the clothing on display. You need your Grand Palace ticket for entry.

While those flocking to the popular tourist destination may only focus on the Emerald Buddha, architecture and looming demons, more demons – and monkeys and princes – can be found inside a two-story, Victorian-style building near the main entrance: the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

On the second floor find two exhibitions: Khon costumes and Queen Sirikit’s creations made by by French designer Pierre Balmain

The two rooms present the museum’s highlight: Costumes designed by renowned Parisienne couturier Balmain worn by the Queen during a six-month tour of the United States and Europe in 1960 with King Bhumibol, when she was toasted as the height of fashion

While looking at the clothing, see photographs of Her Majesty wearing the exhibited pieces along with high-quality footage of Their Majesties during their visits abroad from 1960 to 1973

The exhibitions launched Aug. 12 to celebrate the Queen’s 84th birthday and runs through June 2018.

Admission is 150 baht for adults, 80 baht for seniors over 65, and 50 baht for students and children. Children under 12 and visitors to the Grand Palace who purchase the palace tickets get in free. Visitors in wheelchairs are welcome.

It is a very interesting museum to see variety Thai textiles patterns and the collection of her majesty queen Sirikit’s outfits. The museum is inside the Grand Palace near the exit gate. It is included in the Grand Palace’s ticket. However if you do not have enough time for the whole Grand Palace visit and only want to come and visit the museum directly, please wait at the Grand Palace entrance, call to the museum to ask for picking you up. Then the person in charge from the museum will come to pick you up and you can buy the ticket with just 150THB for the museum visiting only. The person in charge in the museum talked to me on Dec.24 that it is just temporary status since there has not yet a final decision between the Grand Palace officers and the Museum for the visitors who only want to come to the museum.

Fabulous museum displaying the many outfits of Queen Sirikit. Some of them were amazing. Good information about how the various cloths are made, which was interesting. At the end of the visit, you get to stamp a design! Loved that activity.
