Be aware that this is measured for Fine Dining and not to be compared with normal restaurants. In comparison to normal restaurants, all of this is 5 stars.

Had The Twelve.

Generally all dishes are artsy and yummy so that’s good. Only two to three are blow your mind yummy and interesting.

However, with this name, you’d expect actually twelve courses and not basically 7 where two they sort of belong together arrive at once and could well be 1 dish.
My Black Box wasn’t completely defrosted and the lamb was tough. Fish was not exciting and starter was way too hot.

For this price point, I expected more perfection although it’s of course intentionally casual in some aspects. The “max 2 hours” of the mail weren’t enforced or possible for this dinner but I felt like this “get out pressure” unnecessarily deteriorated the experience a bit.

Irish guy at the front was so nice as were some of the chefs. Waiter was attentive but not fully up to speed for Fine Dining.

I assume the steak nights and so on are banging but this visit has too much kinks to be 5 stars.

Fabulous special occasion restaurant!
We did "the 6" and added oysters as a starter and a chocolate box to finish.
Great non-alc options for those of us who like do drink but no longer have alcohol.
The right amount of food for me, hubby was worried he would leave hungry but it wasn't to be.
Service was good. Intimate restaurant setting, perfect for a special occasion. Amazing experience and dinner and we will be back.

Simply wow!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 course set menu experience. All cocktails & food was exceptional, living up to our hoped for expectations, possibly exceeding them 😋
The ambient lighting reduced photo quality, but hopefully it gives an idea of our menu..

And bonus, the restaurant manager & our UK waiter were absolutely wonderful as they had personality, made time for a fun little chat here & there, plus were very very knowledgeable of the food presented to us.  They really added to our night, making it an even more memorable experience.

We will definitely highly recommend Ides to others based on our fabulous night, & will be saving up to return again some time in the future.

Ides has become the restaurant that I go to every time I am in Melbourne. The food is wonderful - inventive, tasty and always just a little surprising. The service is friendly and the staff always excited about the food and drinks they are serving. Exceptional cocktails.

The flow of the experience was unexpected - in the best way possible! You enter via the bar and get seated to have your drink. When you've finished they walk you around to the dining area and seat you at your table. Service was wonderful and each dish was a work of art!!
