Was hoping to return for a meal. 

Stopped in here one late afternoon between lunch and dinner service. 

But they were nice enough to let us sit inside and enjoy a glass of wine and a cheese plate. The kitchen was closed.  

This restaurant has a decent amount of inside seating and sidewalk seating that hugs the building. 

Limited English, but very nice.

Located in the beautiful, trendy neighborhood of Montmatre with a locals' kind of feel. We were probably the only tourists there and there was no English menu available. However, with some French vocabulary under my belt and with the help of Google translate, I was able to navigate the menu and successfully place our orders.

The food:
Our escargots here are baked without their shells and with all the escargots I've ever had, it was buttery, garlicky, and delicious! We also ordered steak and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. 

My duck confit was cooked impressively well. The duck meat was tender, juicy, and fell right off the bone. Whereas, the duck skin was crispy and was a great contrasting, textural component to the dish.

If you want to have a meal cooked well and desire to stray away from the touristy areas, this is the place to go!

We Yelped. We ate. We [really] enjoyed. Wow, our meal was pretty good. We went with a group of 5 and tried different kinds of plates, like we always do. The beef tartar was to die for, soooo yummmmy. The duck was crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. We always wash down with a salad - this time a leek salad drizzled with a light sweet vinegar'y dressing and coupled with a thick hollandaise(?) sauce over a hard-boiled egg. We also tried a couple of beef plates, covered over creamy mushroom. Mmm, mmm, good. Thanks for having us.

3years after or last visit we came back. We were beyond excited when we realized we would be in the Monte Marte long enough to visit Au Bon Coin again. 

On our last trip it was our favorite meal, on this trip it was amazing as well. We might have been the only people in the restaurant who weren't from the neighborhood. Everyone seemed to know everyone and there is a lovely park next door that our son absolutely loved before and after. The food and service is just welcoming and friendly. The menu is small enough that they can execute everything perfectly. 

This time we had the roast beef with home made sauce and roasted potatoes. The duck was also great! For desert we had a fig and apple tart. It was moist and not too sweet. 

Can't wait to return again.

Nice Bistro, a stone throw away from my place.Great outdoor sitting, service is typical Parisian executed by well mannered Ladies. Good blend of artsy type of locals, with kids running around. Food is spot on at very reasonable prices, this has become one of my fave neighborhood hangouts...

I had a solid, but unspectacular dinner here. The service was extremely friendly. And the ambiance is old school. Hardly a tourist in sight. Three course dinner with two glasses of wine was an affordable 35 euros or so. 

I had the seafood pate, which I really enjoyed. It was a whole piece of fish with potatoes and salad. I also had the duck confit. It was very tasty and cooked perfectly but a tad too salty. The clafoutis was served cold, rather than warm, and not the best texture. But the flavors were spot on.

Was hesitant to write a review about this place because I don't want it to become flooded with tourists but I think that would be unfair. This is possibly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. You will not see a single tourist and the FOH staff do not speak any English which just adds to the whole experience. The menu changes daily but typically they always have duck confit and rilletes. Order those two things.

We headed here our first evening in Paris as it was really close to our hotel, and another yelper had said we'd be the only tourists there, so off we went! 

Our waitress brought over a chalkboard with lots of lovely French sounding delights, very little of which we could understand and she couldn't speak much English. Thankfully a lady at the table next to us helped us out because we were getting nowhere fast... 

The food itself was excellent. I went for steak with caramelised shallots and roast potatoes and a desperado (who knew they were French?!) but getting that and not wine seemed to be a bit of an issue with the waitress, but I got there in the end! The portions were quite big and everything was really tasty. I got a creme brûlée too because, well, France. 

I'd highly recommend this place if you have a better understanding of French than we did, it felt like a place well loved by locals.

Best duck I've ever had, hands down, but unusual service to say the least. 
After a few frustrating meals with a language barrier (we didn't know French, they didn't know English), we were happy to find Au Bon Coin in the neighborhood we were staying. Staff was friendly and patient with our ordering and food came out quickly. Hands down this was the best duck I've ever eaten, if you see it as a daily special, get it! 
The only oddity was that at the close of our meal, before we went up to get our check, but after we were done with our food and finishing our wine (we had about a half bottle left), we were asked to move from our seats, which was adjoining a larger table, to a smaller 2-seat table in the back. We figured out that were asked to do this to make room for a larger party coming in. Asking someone to move seats mid meal for another party would be rude and off-putting in America, but since this was my first time in Paris, I'm not sure if this is common in cafes'... or maybe they just do this to Americans to make room for a local??? In any case, we got the hint, and quickly finished and left

Beautiful confit du canard and roasted potatoes!  we also ordered the steak and scalloped potatoes and it was also amazing. Highly recommend if you want some french classics! Price was quite cheaper than paris average, which made the meal even more worthwhile.
