Our first meal in Paris. 

More than 24 hours in airports, waiting to check into hotel, we were hungry. We discovered this quaint bistro at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro.  

The owner was very nice.  He brought the regular menu and pre fixe board to the table. Two courses were 16€, wine 5€. First plate was a rillette tart over a salad. My second was a piping hot, cheesy, bacon, potato gratin with salad. It was a wonderful meal to start our Paris visit with. 

As with almost all the French restaurants/ bistros I have been in, seating is tight. The table next to you is a foot away. You're there for the food. 

Definitely would return for another meal.

Simple but tasty food and quick service. Strategically located close to the subway stop of Montmartre. One could work a bit ion the "ambiance", tables are very,very close and deco is very minimalistic (to say the least)

L'Escalier is a hidden gem in Montmarte, which is a hidden gem in Paris (or it was a hidden gem of a neighborhood until the movie Amelie).  

The bistrot opened just last Fall near my favorite uphill climb that goes all the way up to Sacre Coeur at the summit.  

I was so impressed by the food (typical French that started with a vegetable soup and ended with a dessert of yogurt), the service (not typical French), and the art (Picasso).  

Very sunny with French windows... and you will end up eating many seasonal French "legumes" from leeks to parsnips.  

Small portion sizes that were tres deliceux, although a bit on the expensive side.  I suppose that sums up just about any good restaurant in Paris.
