We had an amazing stay at Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza. The hotel is conveniently located at Plaça Espanya, right outside the metro station and very close to countless eateries and markets. We stayed in a double room and we were very satisfied with how comfortable and spacious it was, in addition to having a great view. The rooms were thoroughly and efficiently cleaned everyday and any used cups or products were being replaced. The check-in and check-out process was quick and the reception staff was very polite. While it is true that you can feel the metro passing by, it truly wasn't a big deal for us and it didn't disturb our sleep or relaxation (we stayed on the 6th floor). My only criticism is the fact that upbeat music was being played from the speakers in the hallways everyday for a couple of hours at around 9-10 pm. It wasn't extremely loud but it was still audible in the rooms from someone that is trying to sleep. I am aware that a bar works on the ground floor at night but I believe that it is crucial to respect the rest of the guests and lower the music from the speakers or completely stop playing it in the other floors.

Great location, close to everything, really. Was very quiet. The windows seemed to really block out the sound. The breakfast has almost everything and the staff were all nice.
My only issue was that the bathroom door doesn't shut, as it's a swing door, so minor, but still a bit too open.
Would stay here again.

Although in a very good location very central and with a metro station nearby, the rooms are a little bit old fashion for a 4 star hotel…the breakfast buffet is quite good with a lot of european flavors, big minus: do not take a room at the front side of the hotel because although you have a very nice view you here and feel the train ( the bed shakes  a little bit every time!!! Really) from the subway all the time…lots of noise from outside square

The room itself was okay—comfortable bed, decent amenities, and the hotel was in a great location. However, the bathroom was a big letdown. There was mold in the tile grout, the bathtub was deteriorating, and I even found used floss left on the counter. It was very off-putting. We mentioned these issues to the desk staff and they thankfully moved us to a room down the hall and provided us free drink vouchers. The next room was fine but there were still similar issues in the shower.

Breakfast was delicious. Great choices and many things to choose from. Staff was nice and were quick to clear away plates and clean tables.
