An exceptional place. The building itself is an outstanding example of Italian architecture and it dates back to the 1920s. It houses some of the finest collections of paintings, sculptures and other objects. Its collection of romanesque church paintings is noteworthy. It also contains some wonderful displays of local Catalan art.Be advised that there are lots stairs to get to the building even using escalators and great views from outside whit spectacular views of Barcelona. The museum has a nice restaurant with wonderful views so you can take a lunch break and spend the day. There is also a casual Cafe outside the museum with quick meals and refreshments.

We took advantage of the free museum Saturday after 3pm (reserve tickets online). I really enjoyed the Romanesque and Gothic art but if that’s not your jam, you might be less interested. The Baroque and modern art is a smaller collection. My husband enjoyed that more but overall said it wasn’t his favourite museum. Beautiful rotunda as well. One bit that is a bit frustrating is that the English translations are uneven throughout. Some main sections will have them but individual art pieces don’t. You can use the WiFi to download an English catalogue but that uses up battery pretty heftily.

This place was on my list and I was lucky to catch free off charge entrance Sunday. I appreciate for comfortable to have wardrobe and also you could choose to stay more and have nice lunch/dinner or just have a snack and you can continue your journey to all those masterpieces. So you can spend your time not in hurry To have a nice break to enjoy all those art and masterpieces.
And don’t forget to go on the rooftop the view deserves to stay in more. Just remember Sunday working time till 2 pm

A must visit for anyone visiting Barcelona! Museum is stunningly beautiful and filled with truly interesting art pieces! We were just looking for an indoor place for rainy day but ended up staying lot longer than planned because there’s really a lot to see. Rooftop terrace was closed because of weather but the museum is worth visiting even without it!

Visiting this Art Museum was a wonderful experience. The highlight for me was the Roman section, which did an incredible job of recreating their architectural style. It truly brought history to life. On display are also the Catalan art and design from late 19th  century. The museum offers the best mix of history and modern art, making it a unique and inspiring place.
I also liked that each section of the museum has its own souvenir and boutique shop, perfect for picking up something memorable.

Tips for visitors:
1. Allocate 2–3 hours to fully enjoy the exhibits without rushing.
2. Use the audio guide to get a richer and more insightful experience.
3. Book tickets online in advance or check with tourist information desks across the city for discounts on various attractions.
