I absolutely love what they have done with Nigeria cuisine here.

I highly recommend this to everyone who might want a taste of Nigeria. To be honest, it’s a healthier version of what the meals would usually be 😁.

The akara was nice and not the usually oily roadside we get (though we love it that way but definitely not the healthiest thing).

West African cuisine is truly given a stage to shine at Akara. Located near Borough Market, Akara is a casual yet refined dining experience that is great for all occasions.

When looking at the menu the only challenge one may have is narrowing down what they want to order from such amazing options. I was lucky enough to go with a group so got the chance to try a variety of menu staples and each dish presented an incredible flavor profile without skimping on the portion size.

The Lagos Chicken, Tiger Prawns Akara and Short Rib Suya are all must try dishes.

Akara adds incredible depth to an already bustling Borough Market dining scene and it is a must visit when in London.

When you come to Borough Market near the Shard, you'll discover this fusion West African -Brazilian restaurant under the arches.

The food portions were generous, the cod was very tasty. The sauce reminiscent of red tomato stew (West African style) was yummy, creamy and not greasy. The suya mix  was great with a generous sized portion of beef (ours was very well done). The akara was well presented and I wanted a bit more as it was quite tasty. We had the prawn and celeriac (vegan options) of the akara.

Hospitality very welcoming and the lunchtime service was spot on. Clean, cheerful and humorous atmosphere with AfroBeats music in the background 👌

Great place to meet for lunch or after work. Will come back soon watch this space.

Akara is a lovely place to enjoy a nice evening out with friends, family or your partner. It has a nice interior and the menu offers something different.

It might be a bit more challenging to enjoy the meal, if like me, you don’t like spicy food. However the food was properly cooked, and some of the dishes really tasty.

The grilled pork was amazingly cooked and the Akaras were very tasty. The humus was delicious but I hoped it came with more pancakes, as they are pretty small.
The deserts were amazing! Especially the cheesecake!

Dishes are not really big. So ask for recommendations of how many plates you should order.
