Lovely secret spot... close to high 
gate cemetery for a yummy dish or roast after seeking out the famous dead. Lovely staff, absolutely delicious food! New chef is fantastic! Had the best butternut squash soup I've ever tasted and the porcini stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes was to die for! Love the seating where friends can less formally gather by the fireplace. I hear Harry Styles and Tina Fey are regulars.. makes sense they would seek out a off the beaten path spot that is warm and cozy with delicious food where they can blend into a mostly local crowd. Wish it weren't so far from me I would live in that pub!

Lovely little pub in Tuffnell Park that like a throwback to the quiet sedate days that we all used to think London was. It is a place where you can truly relax and spend a nice Sunday without being bothered by the irksome realities of of the tidal wave of humanity that is London life.

We came here last Sunday, a day of fag having had a walk on the Heath for Sunday lunch (I can't think of much that is more London than that!) where we each had some beautiful roasts. I had the Pork Shoulder and my partner had the roast beef sirloin. Both were beautiful with a nice crisp Yorkshire pudding and glazed honey vegetables. I would suggest that the Pork was better. It was soft tender and tasty to the point that you didn't even need a knife as the succulent flavours wafted out while clawing away at it.

Lovely service, lovely place and I wish it it was my local!

Didn't strike me as a pub and was more like an American Cafe. Service was painfully slow despite being only four other patrons there although they were nice enough.Had the baked brie which was just fine. Can't really mess that up. Just irksome to sit for long periods of time with an empty glass in front of you.

I cannot believe this place hasn't been reviewed yet! It's amazing.

We stopped by on Saturday afternoon - it was hot, and we were thirsty, and hungry.

Unable to choose between the many scrumptious sounding dishes we went for 2 starters and a main to share.

Fresh crusty bread, was followed by rabbit terrine and potted crab. Then courgette and cheese tart with mint sauce followed, accompanied by a rocket and tomato salad and chunky chips.

All delicious, well portioned and well presented. Shame we didn't have room for dessert!

The decor is lovely - with 'authentic' tiles, patterned paper, deer heads and leather sofas. 

There's a little garden out back, and picnic tables round the side.
Dogs are welcome, and as it's not too far from Hampstead Heath, this is hardly surprising. 

Also, if you are coming from the heath and find the cafes of Swains Lane too crowded, walk up, past the fantastic Gothic 19th century Holly Village, have a peer through the fence, carry on to the right of Highgate cemetery, pass Highgate librabry and there you are - a fantastic gastropub awaits you!

Been here a couple of times now, most recently last night. Each time it's been fairly empty, but the bartenders are friendly. I haven't tried the food, but it looks good. 

Overall, it's a quiet, relaxing local - but expensive! Two and a half pints cost us just under 12 quid! Then again, we were drinking Hoegaarden... I'm just glad to have a local pub that serves a beer I love on tap.

It's not my favourite place by any means, but it's one of the better locals - even though the constant emptiness is a little odd - and has a decent beer selection. I'll likely be back next time I'm in the mood for a nightcap.

This is quite a nice pub. Had a decent selection of ales when I visited, including a couple from the Brodie's east London brewery, including their strong tasting Jamaican stout (not for everyone!).


 I liked the dimly lit interior, although I could have done without the volume of the evening's jazzalthough it was quite amusing trying to work my conversation around a particularly long drum solo.


 While I was here a guy turned up on a bicycle, went inside, bought a pint, tried to get back on his bike, fell and dropped his pint (crash) and cycled off again. Seemed very bizarre. Who knowsmaybe it is commonmost London cyclists ride around like they're drunk anyway!


 Has a small price reduction for CAMRA members, which is always nice to see.

Agree with the other two reviewers here. A pretty unremarkable place that serves beer late....so it gets 4 stars from me.
Price wise, not a major issue here, as you pay for what you want and unless you want to go home and call candy cabs, then you pay a bot over the odds for a drink here.
I would recommend the house wine as a value for money option, but let's face it, if you're in there at 3am, the last thing on your mind is the credit crunch is it?

This place is hilarious. It's basically a bar that's been built in a shop furnished with what looks like cheap ikea furniture.


 I've been here a few times because it has a late licence. I don't know what it's like at weekends, but it has seemed pretty empty the few times I've been here. And the downstairs area is absolutely freezing. They cranked the aircon right up for no discernable reason.


 But it is decent enough. I don't think they have any beer on tap chosing instead to charge more for a small bottle. Worth a special mention just for the late licence

This pub has recently had a bit of a refurb / takeover. The Sunday roast here is delicious. They have a small garden out back but since it hasn't really been warm enough to sit outdoors, sitting by the lovely fire is a great way to keep warm.
Bloody Marys are served in a mini jug, my kind of drink.
Lovely service, good décor and good music.

Standard British pub... didn't love it, didn't hate it. The staff was great, the food was okay (good presentation, below average flavours... sorry Star, my cod was waaayyy too salty. And I'm American!), and I enjoyed the carafe of ice water! Not a common luxury in London. I might have liked this place better if we had been there for the live bluegrass music they have every week... which I should have been because I was there on a Thursday evening, which is exactly when their Google site advertises live music. Live music is now, in fact, on Mondays. Sigh. Maybe I'll go back on a Monday.
