Love how they switched up the menu to Mexican. Been here before for the Turkish menu and thought it was good..but not great. This current Mex menu is great. Everything about it: the taste, quality, portion, price. The meats are hearty and taste amazing. I recommend the Southern Breakfast. They ran out of pulled pork so they sub'd w/braised meat and it was delic....I actually loved it and prefer with the substitution. 

The mains were well put together....The flavors and different ingredients combined were ace. 

Love the space. It's a perfect spot for a group of friends or for two. It's relaxed and clean. 

Service was good, except for one....she was so grumpy and a bit rude by hastily taking a glass of water from my friend and it splashed on her main. She just walked off. The other staff made up for her attitude.

Breddo's tacos is now the in residence kitchen here and having heard good things about them, we decided to check it out. The space itself is very inviting converted railway arch with low lighting and cool ambient music. 

We began with a classic and Tommy's Margarita. Both were delicious, but the addition of agave syrup gave Tommy's the edge. We then proceeded to sample the majority of the limited menu including the Cochinita Pibil Tostadas, the Fish tacos, chips and guacamole, fried chicken and aioli, grilled prawns with Romesco, and the street salad. The highlights were the fried chicken which were boneless and surprisingly tender as well as the Baja fish tacos which had a lovely light batter and spicy aioli. Disappointments included the grilled prawns, which were rather bland and the summer slaw which tasted like little more than plain,undressed cabbage shredded up in a bowl.

I would return here for a solid drink and to fill my worst Mexican cravings but I don't see this setting London's Mexican food scene on fire anytime soon.

Haggerston, has produced a second outing for me. Trip, next door to the meaty and forever busy Berber & Q, is an open plan minimalist trendy spot housed in a neighbouring train alcove. 

I am not sure what to make of Trip. It has a special curated menu with a focus on plant based dishes. Good for vegetarians I guess, but only if you do not want something substantial. Where it does attempt to fill your belly is with the fish and meat specials which change daily.

On my visit, there was a cod and lamb main, which we both jumped at. The cod was coated in sesame seeds and came with what appeared to be stewed cucumber and home made coleslaw. My lamb was on skewers with peppers and onions, served on a bed of cous cous which had nuts (no mention of these in case you were allergic). 

Both dishes were freshly prepared (open kitchen), but there was something missing. The cod, according to my dining company, was a wee bit dry, tasteless and didn't partner it's accompaniments very well. For my lamb, it could have been done a little bit more on the rare side to avoid the slight chewiness. It was seasoned well and a decent portion, but the cous cous actually came out as the winner of the whole dining experience. Considering the Cod was £13.00 and the lamb was £14.00, the cous cous should not have been the best feature. 

The service was lovely. Chilled and friendly. The food, missed a trick. The crowd were a mixture of trendy types and other folk who probably couldn't get in to Berber & Q.

Trip seems like it's a great place to chill with a drink and snacks you need google to understand (lavash and zatar, labneh and dukkah), but for dinner, I will be queuing up to get a table at Berber & Q next time. Soz.

The location is good (next to the canal a walk away from Victoria Park) and the inside design is all bricks and industrial, but not too much, nice and clean. But unfortunately these are the only good points I can talk about.

Me and my partner got in and on the chalkboard was advertised the Special, a £10 burger with fries. Being a Special, and considered the price above the average, I was expecting something fantastic, so I went for that one. 

After us another couple came in and they both ordered the same burger. 

Let's just fly over the disorganised service that served the couple mentioned above before us and forgot the side dish of my partner or the waiting time (almost 40 minutes wait on the clock): I always manage to forget any disappointment if the food is worth it.

The kitchen is facing the dining area and chefs were looking between the frustration and the "don't know what to do anymore". This is never a good omen.

Conclusion: burgers were pink raw inside, dripping blood, both me and the other couple sent the burgers back, another 20 minutes wait, meat is this time cooked but the burger still tastes odd. Burgers left on the plate, customers leaving on disappointing food or long waiting, and with an upset belly myself.

Trip Kitchen is a fabulous addition to the local dining scene.  My husband and I recently came for brunch.  My eggs (with Turkish sausage) were the best I've had anywhere in London.  My partner was also thrilled with his "daily special" omelette.

The ambiance was perfect as the space is beautifully decked out in a casual fashion underneath the railway arch of the East London Line in Haggerston.  Service was definitely courteous and attentive. They also have a delicious cava and the coffees were good too.  

The only thing missing is a more variety of cake choices. Other than that this place is fabulous. Highly recommend it.

Very trendy place, I haven't had the food but I came here with my husband for a drink one night. I got a margarita and it wasn't anything special and very expensive, there's a dozen other places in the area where we can go for a better drink. I'll update my review whenever we might come for some food.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. However, the menu is highly experimental and completely inedible.

The waitress recommended the daily special sandwich with a pint of draught beer and side of bacon. She said it was a good amount of food and suitable for two grown men at lunch. Instead we were served a banana sandwich on a glazed doughnut drenched in syrup and with bacon and pistachio shavings on top. The price for this science experiment: £11.50.

The combination of flavours was frankly disgusting. We were very disappointed with the meal and recommendation. We had to send the food back after one or two bites and the serving staff were entirely dumbfounded because apparently "people tell us they love it."

We later spoke to the manager and he reluctantly discounted us £8 off of a £35 bill. After the innocent discussion about our problems with the food, he was visibly upset and would not look us in the eye. It felt as though he wanted us gone as soon as possible.

Finally, when we prepared to leave the restaurant, we had to stand in line for 15 minutes behind ten other diners because there was only a single credit card terminal at the entrance.

We will not be visiting this restaurant again. To any visitors we suggest to stay away altogether or navigate the menu very carefully because there are some very strange dishes on there.

The new jones and sons residency is a great addition to the Haggerston area.. Went today and great friendly vibe.. Sunday roast was a winner.. Massive chicken to share with all the trimmings.. Great service and just a great feel.. Going to go back soon..

Trip Kitchen is a fantastic addition to the Haggerston neighbourhood. The young chef Selin is a bit of genius in the kitchen. Very inventive, but never pretentious.  She is extremely creative in her flavour combination and they really work. We had my wife's birthday here a few months ago and the whole staff took such good care of us. The menu was amazing and Selin made a beautiful orange blossom cake just for us. We also go often for brunch and love it. 

This is a rare opportunity to taste the creations of a top notch chef for very little money. Even the drink is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is relaxed and the space is nicely designed. Reminds me a bit of a laid backed place in Berlin. Definitely recommended.

Current Jones and sons residency is fab... Went for dinner a while back and the food was great quality and delicious. Service as great too. Deffo will visit again
