Nestled in the heart of London near Leicester Square, Fernando's is a charming, family-run restaurant that offers a delightful escape into traditional British breakfast and lunch favorites. This cozy spot, with its intimate setting of just four tables, exudes a warm, welcoming vibe that makes every visit feel like a visit to a friend's home. Known for its grill-based dishes and hearty breakfast options, Fernando's has become a local favorite for those seeking authentic, satisfying meals at reasonable prices.

One of the few places that has quite a few Yelp reviews, Fernando's is a locally owned breakfast and lunch restaurant, serving up grill based foods for reasonable costs, near Leicester Square.

Needed to leave our hotel room near Leicester Square for a bit in the morning, because of a hotel required safety check, so looked for close places that served English breakfasts.  Fernando's came up with good ratings.  It's a short walk from Chinatown, and is a small establishment with 4 tables (seating for under 15 people).  

On a Wednesday morning, it was manned by the wife of Fernando (taking care of front of house and drinks) and a fry cook.  It's a small breakfast menu, and wasn't too hard to make our choices.  They stress their English breakfasts, along with breakfast sandwiches.  It wasn't busy for dine-in (stopped in after 8 am).

I love English breakfasts....the consumption of baked beans in the morning is something that just matches my preferences, and am really glad that I was able to partake at least once on our trip.  Fernando's complete version (£10.50) and has all requisite components: Sunny side up egg, mushrooms, whole tomatoes, bacon, a sausage (banger), baked beans, toast, and tea (from a bag).  My wife ordered a egg and bacon sandwich (£4.60) and a (white) coffee (£3.90).  It came delivered soon after.

The food was good.  The baked beans tasted like Heintz, which is difficult to get in the States.  The tomatoes were the peeled type that comes in a can (great to make pasta sauce, not so great for breakfast).  The egg was great quality, and the toast was a thick white (thickness of Texas toast).  The bacon was the Canadian sort, more like ham.  And the banger was OK.  The sandwich seemed to be overwhelmed by the bread...there is a reason why a bagel or muffin is used as the bread for breakfast sandwiches....Texas toast is just a bit too much bread.  The latte was good, though the price approached what Starbucks would cost.

We paid after we finished, and discovered Fernando's has been at this location for almost 20 years.  It's a great place, definitely worth a stop in.

This was a very small place we went for lunch. We were looking for jacket potatoes, and they had several variations of them here. We got the beans and cheese and pesto chicken potatoes. The service was very good. There was one person taking orders and serving, and she did a good job. It seemed to be a place for locals to eat. The prices were also very reasonable.

If you're looking for reasonably-priced, no-frills breakfast close to the National Gallery, Fernando's is a great option. 

They had a ton of really delectable-looking food in their deli case, but I ended up with a chocolate croissant and some eggs and toast with salmon. The croissant was good, tender if not flaky, and the eggs and toast was standard but good. I also got a cappuccino, which was a nice accompaniment but made me feel like I was running the front shop person ragged. 

It's easy to miss Fernando's since it's tucked neatly away in a row of shops and isn't particularly large as far as storefronts go, but keep an eye out for it and you'll be in for a treat.

Love the friendly staff as it's local and I believe family-run. 
The food is very good and the portions are huge. 

For just £5 you can get a sizable panini (ciabatta) filled with just about anything you might want. The pesto chicken is my favorite - made with tons of chicken breast and a delicious pesto sauce. Add some mozzarella and sundried tomatoes, toss it in the panini grill and you've got an amazing sandwich. 

For just £5.50, you can get a heaping portion of pasta. It's very tasty pasta and you can go 50/50 to get two types of pasta. The pesto and carbonara are great. Will definitely get the pasta more often

Fernando's will always be remembered by its long lunch lines, friendliest staff, awesome and affordable to-go grub. They can customize your lunch however you'd like, from hearty sandwiches to warm fresh pastas to surprisingly tasty salads. You can't really go wrong, and it's really a bang for your buck~

Fernando is also just one of the nicest people to chat with, even if it's just for a minute or two.

Other than fish and chips, BF said I needed to try Britain's jacket potatoes. Uhhh, a what? I found out that jacket potatoes are similar to baked potatoes. We found a place for jacket potatoes with great reviews when we were in the Covent Garden area and stopped in for some lunch.

There's very limited seating inside and during our lunch, we noticed most people ordered for takeaway (to-go for us Americans). We snagged a two-seater table right by the counter. BF and I each ordered a jacket potato with different toppings. Their jacket potatoes are HUGE! Each order comes with a side of salad. The piri piri chicken is too spicy by itself -- you definitely need a bite along with a bite of salad. The pesto chicken jacket potato is a standout and a bite of that and switched off with a bite of the piri piri was a good combination. What a very satisfying and filling meal!

My work place is just crossed the road from fernando's but i have only been there once.
Why? Because i am stupid! 
Last week i finished everything i had at home and i hadn't brought with me my lunch.
Tommaso (my colleague) suggested me to go to Fernando's as he was really used to go there, such as 99% of our other colleagues.

Well we crossed the road and we entered in this small tiny world!
Huge sandwiches where served, enormous salads prepared and oversize potatos buttered.
It was a sort of street food wonderlad!

I took a jacked potato (i hope jacked is the right way to call it...i am still learning all the food words) with tuna, salad and corn! WOW! 
It was supertasty and huge..i didn't even finished it as it was enormous!

My colleague took a salad with rice, a sort of chicken kebab and something else...his package couldn't even close!

Prices are right for the quality you have (that is quie high) and for the quantity they serve...
I paid my potato 4£ and i don't remember how many cents.

Cheap-as-chips, no chips.

Lunch for under a fiver: Pastas and a range of hot dishes (lasagne, cottage pie, etc).

And then there's the chicken kebab salad with rice. At £4.60, it's too much food, even if you're starving. A big lovely salad that's not just made up crap leaves - think olives, couscous, clumps of feta, cucumber slices - topped with a massive chicken kebab. 

Ask for no rice, unless you really want rice. Seriously. 

So good. It's across the road from one of our partners: I try to finagle lunchishtime meetings with them so I can go here. As does most of the rest of my office.

Without a doubt this is one of the best cafes in London. Both take away and eat in food available. 

The food is tasty, freshly cooked, very cheap, comes in large amounts. You can't ask for anything more really!
There are a few tables but at lunch time you won't have much hope of getting one. Don't be put off by the long queue that usually stretches right out of the door, as the service is fast. 

I used to work on st Martin's lane and 2 years later I still miss Fernando's.

It's doesn't look like much from the out by God do the give you good food and a good deal in the centre of london! 

My choice is the Jacket Potato with Pesto chicken and cheese for £5 and they do not go skimpy on the portion size! I'd rather get a huge hit yummy meal from here for £5 then a toastie from the chains for the same price. 

Just got to Fernandos. You won't look back.
