This place is hands down one of the best restaurants in California. One of the only restaurants in the state consistently reinventing while staying true to the Filipino flavors and culture. The staff and chef are so friendly and make the experience amazing. Weeknights you can even meet some of the chefs and hear their inspiration for the dishes. When the place is popping, they still manage to give top tier service. Can’t wait to keep supporting! Worth every penny.

I used to be old school when it comes to my Filipino food, but dining in at Abaca completely changed my mind about fusion Filipino cuisine. We first had their cocktails with Filipino flavors like ube (purple yam) and pandan (herb that is considered the vanilla of Southeast Asia) and they were phenomenal. Then, we had their lumpia (spring rolls that are more meat forward than vegetable forward), pork bbq skewers, and isaw (roasted chicken intestine, found in their secret menu). Their take on lumpia was refreshing: they wrapped it in lettuce, and had some sort of herb medley and pickled radish on top which elevated my lumpia experience. Their take on pork bbq was so tender and moist.

Our favorite was their isaw. Having had it in the Philippines, I absolutely hated it as it does have an acquired taste vibe. But the chef at Abaca completely changed my mind about isaw; whatever they did, the isaw turned out crispy on the outside but soft and moist in the inside, and very savory, and umami.

Their entrees were absolutely amazing as well! The sisig fried rice has all the qualities you’d find in a good sisig (sizzling assorted meats with soy sauce and lime and onions), with a twist. Their take on beef pares is a very tender, melt-in-your-mouth flank steak with bone marrow foam that is so savory and rich.

The only regret we have is that we have no more room for more food and dessert!

The staff were absolutely amazing as well, friendly and accommodating!

Will definitely come back when we am back in SF!

Abaca is seriously one of the best restaurants in California! If you have not been, it is a must try! The kamayan experience is like no other. They are fantastic at honoring dietary requirements. They actually truly prepare delicious dishes for each person. They are very reasonable! Our favorite is their rice dishes. Vegan options are plenty. You will not regret! The people are so warm and friendly! You will feel like home.

We LOVED this place. Our waiter was the nicest, most fun person and made sure our group had a great time. The food was delicious from start to finish. I'm normally a good hole-in-the-wall asian food kind of person, but this place was worth the price as they did really good "luxury" takes on Filipino cuisine. Definitely recommend!!
