What a wonderful breakfast AT A HOTEL!

Was shocked by the quality of the food here and so pleased. After a long trip/travel day sometimes all I crave is a nice hardy breakfast and I got it here! Best part is I didn’t have to go looking for it. It was right in my lobby.

Thank you to the wonderful servers that provided incredible service and gave me some time and space while I worked. Such a wonderful spot to go to for brunch if you’re in the area or someone is visiting.

So my friends enjoy this spot and brought me for my birthday.  Villon took every opportunity to knock this out of the park.  One of a kind dishes pairing flavors you could barely dream up, their passion and skill shine through .

I have dined at Villon several times and always like the ambience, service and food in this elegant restaurant in the Proper Hotel. Last night we had a very enjoyable pre-theater dinner. The creamy artichoke soup was a tasty starter. The pork katsu was large but nothing special. I would have expected a novel take on this standard Japanese dish. The chocolate custard had a delicious assortment of flavors, but I would have liked more chocolate.

Exquisite- one of the best meals of my life. speechless about the mushroom appetizer. VILLON is absolute perfection- from stunning architectural scale of the lobby, to soothing dark tones of restaurant, and sparkly highlights of the dramatic bar. Service was impeccable - everyone. Food was exquisite. The Chef is brilliant… and has PERFECTED  the art of delicate crisp to the (GF!) tempura mushroom appetizer, as well as the skin of the chicken and fish entrees. FLAVORS and TEXTURES were magnificent. The entire experience was subtle, yet extraordinary FEAST for the eyes and palate — an absolutely perfect meal before a show at the Orpheum in SF! Wow. Words don’t come close.

Came here for lunch while staying at the Proper Hotel (which I loved). From the moment I arrived, the service was stiff and off-putting, like I shouldn’t have been there. I checked the time several times to make sure I wasn’t coming in before close, but it was 1 and the restaurant closed at 2. The restaurant was empty, and there was no music playing which made for uncomfortable silence.

I ordered a drink from our not very warm server — an aperol spritz — and was told they were limited to the 4 drinks on their menu. I ordered a Negroni (listed on the menu), and the server asked “is that on the menu?” I showed it to him and he said he would “check”.  I also ordered a coffee. He asked if I wanted drip, I said yes.

He returned with the Negroni, which was made with aperol. This was almost insulting given that the only other ingredients needed for my initial drink order was sparking wine (which was on the menu) and soda water. I had to ask for coffee again and instead of apologizing, he acted dumbfounded.

On the positive, the stonefruit salad I had was absolutely divine and the Negroni was satisfying. The space is beautiful, would definitely give this place another try and cross my fingers for better/more accommodating device.

Vi stannade in för en drink efter en föreställning på Orpheum och hamnade med 3 drinkar vardera och en aptitretare. Det som höll oss där så länge var bartendern, Andrew. Vilken fantastisk person! Han gjorde vår kväll! Stämningen är också ganska trevlig men ett konstruktivt förslag till ledningen skulle vara att ersätta den nuvarande uniformen (helt inte förstå!) Med något som är vettigt:)

Jag flög in från NYC för en tillflyktshelg. Jag bodde hos vänner på eftermiddagen och bestämde mig för att stanna till lunch innan jag kom till mina vänner. Jag hade ett fall med mig och fick höra att ingen kunde hålla saken för mig medan jag har en måltid. . Jag ville inte att mitt kostymfall bredvid mig medan jag ätit så jag gick. Inte en bra servicenivå.

Min partner och jag besökte här för brunch på en lördag en vecka tillbaka. Dekorera åt sidan - vilket är en vacker Art Deco-stil i en lugnande blå ton - maten och priserna fick mig att vilja mer. San Francisco är dyrt vet jag, men maten träffade inte riktigt märket för mig, och det var inte av brist på försök.

Avacado toast var anständigt, och som förväntat. Villon-frukosten hade en mängd olika alternativ på plattan, och alla var halvt anständiga, men det var en överväldigande buffé av slumpmässiga saker som tycktes värma tillbaka för en tid. Cocktails var en no go baserat på pris. Tjänsten var ok.

När det gäller prissättning är det inte billigt. Webbplatsen verkar också konstant lista felaktiga priser till själva menyn. Den 9/28 var allt som listas online $ 1 - 2 mer i butik än online. Jag ser nu $ 28 för Villon-frukosten, medan det var $ 20 dagen jag var där. Det är DEFINITIVT inte värt $ 28 - spara dina pengar folk.

Vänner hade kommit in i stan, och vi planerade en teaterresa. De bodde på Proper, där Villon ligger, så det var ett logiskt val. The Proper är ett äldre hotell som har renoverats på ett eklektiskt och underhållande sätt. Villon, precis utanför lobbyn på Market Street-sidan, återspeglar hotellstilen i en restaurang i blygsam storlek som spills ut i lobbyn. Tjänsten är utmärkt, vi hälsades och sitter snabbt och servern frågade oss om vi skulle till en show och vad showen var. Menyn var något begränsad, men intressant. Vinlistan var också blygsam men hade några trevliga markeringar, även om de är dyra vid $ 17 och upp per glas. Jag gick med en härlig "lokal fisk" i detta fall hälleflundra, i buljong med shiitake svamp och gröna. Det var en brist, ingen stärkelse. Jag tänkte att jag behövde lite bröd för att suga upp buljongen, jag bad om en bit bröd och fick en skål med grillad bröd ($ 8) som bordet älskade. Så vid denna prispunkt skulle man tro att a) en stärkelse skulle tillhandahållas och vara) bröd bör inkluderas. Oavsett var det grillade brödet, som jag inte hade lagt märke till på menyn, ett trevligt tillägg som du kanske vill överväga. Mina matställen åtnjöt alla sina rätter, som var biff- och kycklingrisskål. Jag smakade min hustrus kycklingris och tyckte tomatsås för söt för min smak, men min fru höll inte med. Så om du vill njuta av lunch innan en matinee i trendig och välsmakande restaurang och inte har en budget, tror jag att du kommer att få en trevlig upplevelse. Överväg att beställa det grillade brödet! Rådgivning, Villon ligger nära SF-teatrar, men det är en funky del av staden, så om du inte är på väg till Market Street-området av en anledning, kanske du vill leta någon annanstans.

Den goda
 - Maten var kreativ och intressant. Gillade verkligen de sydostasiatiska influenser.
 - Servitrisen var uppmärksam och snäll. Hon höll på sitt slut på affären.
 - Bryssel groddar var ur denna värld.
 - Närhet till teater är fantastiskt.

Det dåliga
 - Beställd vin fanns inte i lager. Sällskapsdjur av mig. Uppdatera listan och / eller erbjuda ett liknande kroppsvin till samma pris eller pris. Slösa inte båda av vår tid.
 - Vintjänsten var ganska grov. Flaskan presenterades inte korrekt, folieborttagning verkade vara en kamp, vin hälldes på bordet av misstag, stemware var svagt imho.
 - Det tog ungefär 1 timme att komma till huvudplattan efter beställning. Även om det var välsmakande vid ankomst var det alldeles för långsamt. Cirka 40 minuter gick mellan sallad och förrätt. Vårt vin var viktigt gjort då och efterrätten låg utanför bordet på grund av tidsbegränsningar.

Jag skulle försöka, men behöver förbättras.

Vi var helt imponerade av cocktailmenyn på Villon. Det är inte varje dag du ser en Clover Club på menyn. Bra på dig, Villon! Vi har också haft vår middag, tjänsten var på punkt och stämningen är mysig. Jag skulle absolut rekommendera denna plats och om jag bodde i San Francisco, skulle detta vara ett vanligt stopp för mig.

Jag hade fläskhackan, amaaaaaazing. Hon hade den korta revbenen, utsökt! Det hawaiiska brödet men. . . Vi beställde en annan för i slutet av måltiden. Tjänsten var stor. Underbar atmosfär. Skulle gå dit igen för en speciell natt ut.

Stor inredning, utmärkt mat, uppmärksam personal. Restaurangen smälter in i lobbyn och andra gemensamma utrymmen på hotellet. Odd går in från gatan där det är uppenbart lidande att gå inomhus till en annan värld men det är inte en social kommentar om platsen, bara positionen.

Från det ögonblick du går i vet du att du är en bra upplevelse. Vår server (Jas K) var vänlig, professionell, gästvänliga och verkligen gjort oss känner som om han var glad att vi var där. Alla fyra av oss beställde något annat och det fanns inget kvar på någons tallrikar i slutet av måltiden. Gör dig själv en tjänst och sluta för en lugn frukost, du kommer att vara glad att du gjorde det.

Personalen var mycket tillmötesgående. Våra vänner anlände tidigt, före oss, och de satt. De bråttom inte oss genom vår måltid, vilket gladde mig, särskilt för att jag vet att de var bokade. Den nattliga havre är verkligen müsli. Det är en kall skål och helt utsökt med alla toppings.

Jag älskade absolut att gå till Villon. Det är en vacker plats och de har mycket unika och ändå läckra alternativ i deras meny. Menyn i början kan vara lite skrämmande, bara för att den inte har de vanliga frukostvalen, men vad du än väljer kommer att vara utsökt.

Frukost är enastående på Villons. Två av oss delade Villons Platter och deras havregryn. Båda var himmelska. Vi såg på att andra frukostar kom ut och fick förbrukad ren platta stil. Vi föreslår starkt att ta frukost här.

Det är sällsynt att hitta en hotellrestaurang som står på egen hand - någonstans skulle du äta på även om du inte bor på hotellet, bara för att det är så bra. Villon är så bra. Utrymmet är liten, men maten är kreativ, utsökt och skulle konkurrera med någon annan restaurang i staden. Tjänsten - från värdarna till servrar och bussare - var effektiv och vänlig. Vi träffade även en av cheferna som fick oss att känna sig välkomna och ivriga att återvända. Måste prova maträtt: Hawaiianbröd med pate - jag har aldrig haft något liknande!

Detta är en unik plats även enligt San Francisco-standarderna. Beläget i ett äldre hotell som har uppdaterats står detta rum långt ifrån den typiska hotellrestaurangen. Börjar med en mycket visuellt tilltalande plats, högt i tak och modern inredning men inte stark. Tjänsten var bra men spotty på platser men ingenting som upprörd flödet av vår kväll. Menyn är nyskapande och inte standard, men det finns något för alla från köttälskare till vegetarianer. Bra folk tittar också.

Jag åt här för två måltider under vistelsen på rätt sätt. Frukost var läckra och färska. Tjänsten var stor. Middag var ännu bättre! Okinomiyaki pannkaka var så bra vi var tvungna att beställa extra. Älskade det!
